In Eggi, a hamlet of the Municipality of Spoleto in the province of Perugia, this dish is the star of the Strangozzi and Asparagus Festival, paired with the asparagus that spring brings to Umbrian tables.
A long-standing festival
Now in its 35th edition in 2026, the festival is organized by the Pro Loco Amici di Eggi Association and represents one of the most anticipated spring gastronomic events in the Spoleto area. For several days, the Pro Loco stands offer strangozzi seasoned in traditional ways, asparagus-based recipes, and other typical dishes, accompanied by local wines.
A village to discover
Eggi is a small medieval village that preserves frescoed churches and charming views among the olive trees of the Spoleto Valley. The festival is the ideal opportunity to combine gastronomic discovery with a walk in this authentic corner of Umbria, far from the most crowded routes.

The 2026 edition, the 35th, of the Strangozzi and Asparagus Festival takes place from April 24 to May 3 in Eggi, a hamlet of Spoleto (province of Perugia). The stars of the festival are strangozzi, the typical Umbrian fresh pasta handmade with flour, water, salt, and oil, and seasonal asparagus, featured in various preparations. The gastronomic stands of the Pro Loco Amici di Eggi are open for ten days, with the usual accompaniment of music and conviviality.
