The festival of the new oil
Frantotipico is the event that, for over twenty years, has celebrated the triumph of the new oil and the food and wine excellences of the territory. It takes place in the picturesque village of Colle del Marchese, a hamlet of the Municipality of Castel Ritaldi, in the province of Perugia, coinciding with the olive harvest season. The festival is part of the Frantoi Aperti (Open Oil Mills) circuit, which promotes olive growing and oil tourism in Umbria.
Tastings, olive trees, and oil mills
The program alternates extra virgin olive oil tastings, guided excursions among the olive trees, a market of typical local products and crafts, and visits to oil mills in the area, reachable by shuttle service. Among the most curious initiatives are moments like 'the world's largest bruschetta' and trekking among the olive groves with a licensed environmental guide.
Workshops, music, and territory
Frantotipico also offers workshops for adults and children and folk music, in an atmosphere that combines taste, nature, and tradition. Organized by Ars Spoletium and the ItalianAccordion Culture Association with the collaboration of the Municipality of Castel Ritaldi, the festival is an opportunity to discover an authentic corner of Umbria and the oil culture that characterizes its landscape and economy.

The 2026 edition of Frantotipico is expected in November in the village of Colle del Marchese, a hamlet of Castel Ritaldi, coinciding with the olive harvest. The festival will again feature extra virgin olive oil tastings, excursions among the olive trees, visits to oil mills, a market of typical products and local crafts, workshops, and folk music.
