About StraMurello

StraMurello is the recreational, non-competitive walk held in Murello, in the heart of the Cuneo plains. A seven-kilometre route through the village streets and the countryside of the Calandra hamlet, open to everyone of all ages and paces. Organised by the Municipality of Murello together with A.S.D. Atletica Racconigi, the event is dedicated to the memory of Giovanni Miniotti, the former mayor of the village, and bears his name as a Memorial. A spring appointment that combines gentle sport, conviviality, and affection for the community.

A walk for the whole village

StraMurello is the spring running event in Murello, a small municipality in the Savigliano plains in the Province of Cuneo, Piedmont. It is not a race in the strict sense of the word: it is a recreational, non-competitive walk of about 7 kilometres, designed to be enjoyed at a leisurely pace, in good company, by walkers of all ages and entire families. No stopwatches, no rankings: the only goal is to get moving in the open air and come together.

The Giovanni Miniotti Memorial

The event is dedicated to the memory of Giovanni Miniotti, former mayor of Murello, and bears the Giovanni Miniotti Memorial in its official name. It is the village's way of remembering a figure who left a mark on the life of the community: each edition renews this bond of affection, transforming a simple walk into a collective gesture of memory and belonging.

The route between Murello and Calandra

The trail winds for about 7 kilometres along the village streets and through the countryside towards the Calandra hamlet, amidst the crops and typical farmhouses of the Cuneo plains. The route is mostly flat and suitable for everyone: you walk, you don't run, and you can stop along the way to enjoy the landscape. At the finish line, there is a refreshment point to refuel and toast to the day spent together.

Who organises it

StraMurello is organised by the Municipality of Murello in collaboration with A.S.D. Atletica Racconigi, a historic local running club. The involvement of local entities—the administration, volunteers, and sports associations—is the true engine of the event, which remains an authentic village gathering, far from major competitive circuits.

An event for the community

More than just a race, StraMurello is a popular open-air festival: families with children, groups of friends, and regular walkers meet to share a morning of light exercise and socialising. The event takes place in any weather and represents one of the most cherished appointments in the spring calendar of Murello and the Savigliano plains.
