Derby del Trotto and UET Elite Circuit Final

A historic event for Vinovo and Italian harness racing

On October 11, 2026, the Vinovo Racecourse, located in the municipality of Vinovo in the province of Turin, will write an unprecedented page in the history of Italian horse racing. For the first time in 98 years, the Derby del Trotto – the most prestigious race in the national calendar – will be held outside of Rome, its home since its inception. Alongside the Derby, the Piedmontese track will host the Oaks del Trotto, the UET Elite Circuit Final, and the Grand Prix de l'UET – Memorial Giuseppe Biasuzzi on the same day, with a total prize pool exceeding 2 million euros.

The Champions League of harness racing

Defined by the organizers as the equivalent of the Champions League of harness racing, this day attracts the best horses and drivers on the continent to the Vinovo Racecourse. The UET Elite Circuit is the series that brings together the great European races of the discipline: the final in Vinovo represents one of the highlights of the entire season, capable of transforming the town just outside Turin into the capital of international harness racing for a day.

The road to the main event

The October 11 event is the culmination of a structured build-up. The qualifying heats for the Derby del Trotto and the Oaks will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, while the Criterium Division reserved for 2-year-old colts and fillies is scheduled for Sunday, September 27. The racing season at Vinovo spans 48 days in total, opening in February and featuring numerous international events such as the Gran Premio Costa Azzurra held in the spring.

The Vinovo Racecourse is not just about sport: on major event days, the facility offers an experience designed for families and those who are not horse racing enthusiasts. Recurring activities include carriage rides, stable tours, art exhibitions, and spaces dedicated to children, as well as dining options with a direct view of the track. The facility also carries out social inclusion projects, with educational paths aimed at young people.

A stage for Piedmont

Organized by Hippogroup Torinese, the event aims to promote the territory of the province of Turin and the entire Piedmont region, combining sporting spectacle with the region's food, wine, and tourism promotion. Vinovo, located just a few kilometers from the Stupinigi Hunting Residence, thus becomes an international showcase for Piedmontese excellence.
