Every spring, the historic center of Cambiano, a town in the hilly belt south of Turin, in Piedmont, transforms for an entire day into a large open-air market dedicated to asparagus. The Spring Festival - The Asparagus is now a well-established fixture in the Turin spring calendar: a popular event that combines the promotion of a local agricultural product with the pleasure of a Sunday in town, filled with flavors, nature, and conviviality.
The heart of the day: Piazza Giacomo Grosso
The hub of the festival is Piazza Giacomo Grosso, where from 10 AM to 6 PM, you will find the fruit and vegetable market, gardening displays, flower and plant sales, and the traditional craft market. Along the streets of the center, producers offer local asparagus, recognizable by its shoots with green tips, a reddish-violet middle section, and a white base—a variety deeply tied to the agricultural tradition of this area in the province of Turin.
Family activities
The Spring Festival is designed to engage all ages. Among the most popular activities are:
- the "Viva la Primavera" educational workshops for children;
- the climbing wall for kids;
- orienteering courses with a large maze;
- street performances and live music throughout the town center.
For nature lovers, the day also offers a walk to discover the countryside chapels, a route of about 4.5 kilometers through the fields around Cambiano, and a guided tour of MUNLAB, the local clay ecomuseum.
Asparagus on the table
The gastronomic highlight is the true star of the festival. From 12:30 PM, in Piazza Giacomo Grosso, an outdoor lunch is set up with a menu entirely dedicated to asparagus, ranging from lasagna with asparagus and ham to fried 'cancelletti', to versions with 'bagna cauda' or simply with butter and Parmesan. The festival is organized by the Pro Loco Cambiano together with the Municipality of Cambiano, with the support of the local Coldiretti, and takes place even in case of bad weather thanks to the indoor spaces provided by the Pro Loco.

La quindicesima edizione della Festa di Primavera ha confermato il successo della manifestazione, animando per un'intera domenica il centro storico di Cambiano. Organizzata dalla Pro Loco Cambiano con il Comune e il sostegno della Coldiretti, la festa ha unito la valorizzazione dell'asparago locale alle attività per famiglie e all'enogastronomia piemontese.
Programme Cambiano Spring Festival 2026
Domenica 3 maggio 2026
- 10.00 - 18.00 — Mostra mercato ortofrutticola, esposizione di attrezzature per il giardinaggio, vendita di fiori e piante e mercatino degli hobbisti lungo le vie del centro e in Piazza Giacomo Grosso.
- Laboratori didattici "Viva la Primavera" per bambini, parete di arrampicata e percorsi di orienteering.
- Momenti musicali e spettacoli diffusi nel centro storico.
- Camminata alle cappelle campestri (circa 4,5 km) con iscrizione obbligatoria e visita guidata al MUNLAB su prenotazione.
- 12.30 — Pranzo in piazza con menù a base di asparago (lasagne con asparagi e prosciutto, cancelletti fritti, asparagi con bagna cauda o burro e parmigiano), posti a sedere fino a esaurimento, garantito anche in caso di maltempo negli spazi della Pro Loco.

When and where

How to get there
Cambiano is located about 15 km from Turin. By car, it can be reached via the Turin southern bypass or the SP122. By train, the reference station is Trofarello, on the Turin-Genoa line, from where you can continue by bus or taxi.
Costs and reservations
