The great Piedmontese honey festival in the heart of the Turin hills
The Marentino Regional Honey Fair is one of the longest-running and most renowned food and wine events in the Turin hills. Every year, in late September, the historic center of Marentinoโa town in the Province of Turin, Piedmontโtransforms into a grand showcase dedicated to the 'sweet gold' of bees. The fair reached its thirtieth edition in 2025 and continues in 2026 with its thirty-first, cementing its status as a staple of the regional beekeeping calendar.
The heart of the event is the market exhibition that winds through the town's streets. Beekeepers are selected in close collaboration with Beekeeping Associations, which oversee honey quality control and fair pricing: every year, about sixteen producers from across the Piedmont region are invited. Stalls offer:
Alongside sales, the fair dedicates significant space to education: guided honey tastings, educational workshops on beekeeping, and meetings on biodiversity and the role of bees in the environment. It is an opportunity to discover the work of beekeepers and the importance of protecting pollinators up close.
The event complements its commercial side with a rich array of activities. Traditional highlights include the Honey Concert, featuring local marching bands, while the naturalistic aspect is expressed through walks to the nearby Lake Arignano and visits to the experimental apiary. There is no shortage of activities designed for children and families, making the fair a perfect day to spend outdoors amidst hills, flavors, and tradition.
During the fair, it is possible to have lunch thanks to the Pro Loco stand and special menus offered by local restaurants, which highlight the dishes of Piedmontese cuisine. A delicious stop that completes the visit and tells the story of the deep bond between Marentino, its hilly landscape, and the culture of honey.
The Municipality of Marentino has confirmed on its official website the 31st edition of the Honey Fair, scheduled for Sunday, September 27, 2026, with the usual opening initiatives on Saturday. As per tradition, the market exhibition will bring together beekeepers selected by trade associations, offering monofloral and wildflower honeys, propolis, and typical Piedmontese products. The detailed 2026 program (times, concert, workshops, and activities) will be published by the organization in the weeks leading up to the event.
Marentino is located in the Turin hills, about 25 km east of Turin. By car, it can be reached from the Turin Tangenziale (ring road) towards Chieri, then continuing towards Arignano and Marentino. Those arriving by train can get off at the Chieri station and continue by local transport or by car.
The event typically takes place on the last weekend of September. The 2026 edition is scheduled for Sunday, September 27, with opening events on Saturday.
Admission to the fair is free.
