Five days of Southern Italian cuisine in the historic center of Venosa
The Southern Italy Flavors Fair is the grand gastronomic festival that brings the culinary excellences of the South to Venosa. For five days, between late May and early June, Piazza Umberto I and the historic center are filled with regional stands offering over fifty gastronomic specialties to taste.
The event celebrates the cuisines of all of Central-Southern Italy: from the red bean soup of Basilicata to Sicilian cannoli, from Apulian panzerotti to specialties from Campania, Abruzzo, Lazio, Molise, Sardinia, and Calabria. To complete the offering, the great wines of the South such as Aglianico del Vulture, Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, and Falanghina del Sannio.
In addition to tastings, the fair offers show cooking, interactive workshops like "Let's Get Our Hands Dirty" (Mettiamo le mani in pasta), guided tastings of wines, and free theatrical performances, in a program designed for families, the curious, and enthusiasts. The event takes place concurrently with the book festival Borgo d'Autore, creating a long weekend that combines food and culture in the heart of the city of Horace.
Included among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, Venosa offers the fair a setting of rare beauty, between the Pirro del Balzo Castle, the Abbey of the Most Holy Trinity, and the Archaeological Park, giving visitors the opportunity to combine the pleasure of dining with the discovery of an extraordinary historical heritage.
The Southern Italy Flavors Fair returns to Venosa from May 29 to June 2, 2026 in Piazza Umberto I. Five days of regional cuisines from Central-Southern Italy, DOC and DOCG wines, show cooking, workshops, and performances, coinciding with the book festival Borgo d'Autore.
Admission is free: tasting tokens costing โฌ1 are used for tastings.

Venosa can be reached from the A16 highway (Candela exit) or the SS 658 Potenza-Melfi. The fair takes place in Piazza Umberto I, in the historic center.
Free admission. For tastings, tokens costing โฌ1 can be purchased at the ticket offices or a โฌ10 booklet can be bought in advance.
Venosa offers numerous accommodation facilities in the historic center and in the surrounding Vulture area.
