The summer of the Lucanian capital

When the warm season arrives, Potenza comes alive with music, shows, and opportunities for gathering. This is thanks to Summer in the City, the major summer program of the Municipality of Potenza which, in 2026, from June 1st to September 22nd, schedules a remarkable 274 events including exhibitions, music, theater, cinema, and outdoor activities. A very dense program, created together with associations and citizens to liven up the summer of the Basilicata capital with quality.

Squares and parks take center stage

The events unfold in the city's symbolic locations: Piazza Matteotti hosts the "Festa della Musica… Talenti Lucani" (Music Festival... Lucanian Talents) in June, the Teatro Stabile hosts the concerts "Intuizioni del tempo" (Intuitions of Time) and "La Potenza della pace" (The Power of Peace), the Parco Baden Powell hosts sports events, Piazza Albino Pierro hosts various shows, and the Archaeological Museum hosts the Oasicinema film series. In August, Piazza Mario Pagano hosts the renowned Basilicata Beer Music Festival.

A widespread celebration for the whole community

From the white nights of "Cura e del Libro" (Care and Book) in July to the recreational activities for families in the historic center, Summer in the City is designed to engage all age groups. The Councilor for Culture, Roberto Falotico, described it as the result of a collective effort to liven up the warm season with quality. A continuously growing program that makes the Lucanian capital a vibrant and welcoming city throughout the summer.
