About Sorsi e Sapori

Sorsi e Sapori is the food and wine festival that the Municipality of Rocca d'Evandro dedicates to the treasures of its territory in the Alto Casertano area. For two evenings, Piazza Enrico De Nicola transforms into a large open-air lounge: stalls featuring traditional dishes, local products, regional wines, and craft beers offered in collaboration with Alibi Birreria, all accompanied by live music, DJ sets, and performances. Free admission and a charming village atmosphere among the houses overlooking the Garigliano valley.

A feast of taste in the village of Rocca d'Evandro

Sorsi e Sapori — Discovering the Treasures of the Territory is the food and wine event promoted by the Municipality of Rocca d'Evandro, in the province of Caserta, Campania. Born as a meeting point for citizens, visitors, and local producers, the festival takes over Piazza Enrico De Nicola for two evenings, turning it into the hub of a widespread celebration filled with tastings, music, and conviviality. The underlying idea is simple and quintessentially Italian: to showcase what the territory does best, from home-cooked dishes to products from small-scale producers, and share them with those visiting from outside.

Where it takes place

The heart of the event is Piazza De Nicola, the town's central square, set up with stalls and a stage. Rocca d'Evandro is a town of just under three thousand inhabitants nestled on a small hill at the foot of Mount Camino, overlooking the Garigliano valley, at the extreme northern border of Campania with Lazio. In the evening, with the lights glowing along the village streets, the square takes on an intimate atmosphere that is an integral part of the experience: you can eat standing up or at tables, stroll around, and stop to listen to the music.

What to eat and drink

The food stalls offer a selection of typical dishes and local products, prepared with genuine ingredients tied to local tradition. Reports on the event highlight in particular:

  • Traditional peasant cuisine of the Alto Casertano, including first courses, cured meats, cheeses, and fried specialties;
  • Typical products from local producers, available for tasting;
  • Regional wines, paired with the offerings at the stalls;
  • Craft beers, curated together with Alibi Birreria, a partner of the initiative;
  • Homemade desserts and baked goods.

This is not a single-themed festival dedicated to one product, but a choral event: the common thread is the territory as a whole, with the declared desire to support the municipality's commercial and productive activities.

Live music, DJ sets, and performances

Alongside the culinary aspect, the event features live music, DJ sets, and performances throughout the evenings. It follows the classic formula of Campanian village festivals: starting with the opening of the stalls in the late afternoon or early evening, and continuing with musical entertainment until late. The detailed program, including times and artist names, is traditionally published by the Municipality on its social media channels in the days immediately preceding the event.

A municipal initiative for the community

Sorsi e Sapori is an initiative promoted directly by the municipal administration in collaboration with local entities. The organizers' stated goal is to enhance typical products, support local businesses, and create a meeting point capable of bringing the squares to life with the energy and warmth of the community. This choice is part of a broader program through which Rocca d'Evandro is working on its identity: from the recognition as a «City that Reads» to cycling and archaeological itineraries along the Gustav Line, the defensive line that crossed this part of Campania during the Second World War, earning the town the Silver Medal for Civil Merit.

Why it is worth visiting

Those who come to Sorsi e Sapori will not find a manufactured tourist event, but an authentic village festival with popular prices and free admission. It is also a great opportunity to discover a lesser-known corner of the province of Caserta: we are just a few kilometers from Cassino and the Abbey of Montecassino, in a border area between Campania and Lazio where the cuisine blends Ciociarian, Latium, and Casertan influences. Visitors can combine the evening with a walk in the historic center or a hike towards Mount Camino and the nearby Aurunci Mountains.

When it takes place

The festival takes place in November, typically over a weekend, with evening openings. The most recent documented edition was in November 2025. For the 2026 edition, as of today, the Municipality has not yet released official dates: it is best to keep an eye on the official channels of the Municipality of Rocca d'Evandro.

Sorsi e Sapori — edition 2026

The event took place in November 2025 in Piazza Enrico De Nicola and, if repeated, should take place at the same time of year, with the usual formula featuring food stalls dedicated to typical Alto Casertano products, craft beers, live music, and DJ sets. The dates indicated here are purely indicative: for certain information, it is best to follow the official channels of the Municipality.

Sorsi e Sapori 2026: edition not yet confirmed

As of the update of this page, the Municipality of Rocca d'Evandro has not published official dates for a new edition of Sorsi e Sapori. The festival, promoted by the municipal administration in collaboration with Alibi Birreria, debuted in the Alto Casertano event calendar in November 2025.

If the event is repeated, it is reasonable to expect the same autumn timing and the same location, Piazza Enrico De Nicola, with stalls featuring typical dishes and local products, regional wines, craft beers, and an evening musical program. As there are no official communications, we do not report a program or a definitive date here: we prefer to signal the uncertainty rather than spread unverified information.

We will update this page as soon as the Municipality of Rocca d'Evandro, in the province of Caserta, releases the 2026 calendar.
