Summer nights of music in Verano/Vöran

The Sommernachtskonzert of the Musikkapelle Vöran is the summer event where the local brass band performs in the main square (Dorfplatz) of Verano/Vöran, a small village of just over a thousand inhabitants nestled on the Salto plateau (Tschögglberg) in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, in the heart of Trentino-Alto Adige. Surrounded by meadows, forests, and views of the Dolomites, August evenings transform into open-air concerts with free admission and a quintessential South Tyrolean festive atmosphere.

A brass band tradition spanning over a century and a half

The Musikkapelle Vöran (Verano brass band) traces its roots back to 1853 and is today one of the village's most vibrant associations, featuring around seventy musicians of all ages. True to the tradition of South Tyrolean bands, the ensemble accompanies community life throughout the year: religious processions, patronal feasts, civil celebrations, and traditional farming calendar events. However, the summer night concerts are the moments when the band truly shines as a full-fledged concert ensemble.

The musical repertoire

The repertoire of the Sommernachtskonzerte ranges from traditional brass music—polkas, marches, and waltzes, the pillars of Tyrolean musical culture—to more modern symphonic wind music. The program is designed for a diverse audience, including residents, families, and tourists who choose the Salto plateau as their summer holiday and hiking destination.

A free event for the whole community

The concerts are held outdoors on the Dorfplatz, the village square, with free admission. It is the perfect opportunity to combine a walk or a day of trekking on the Tschögglberg with an evening of live music, immersed in the intimate atmosphere of one of the most peaceful villages in the Merano region.
