Evening band concerts in the hamlets of Appiano sulla strada del vino
The Eppaner Musiknächte, known in Italian as Notti Musicali di Appiano (Appiano Musical Nights), are a traditional summer series of evening concerts that bring the municipality of Appiano sulla strada del vino (Eppan an der Weinstraße) to life in the heart of South Tyrol, near Bolzano. Throughout the summer, the brass bands from the various local hamlets perform in their respective pavilions, offering a rich calendar of evenings dedicated to South Tyrolean band music and conviviality.
The heart of the event lies in the historic musical ensembles of the area: the Cornaiano Band (Musikkapelle Girlan), the San Paolo Band (Musikkapelle St. Pauls), the San Michele Civic Band (Bürgerkapelle St. Michael), and the Frangarto Band (Musikkapelle Frangart). On select evenings, they are joined by the women's singing group and the San Michele parish choir. Each band presents its own concert in its hamlet's pavilion, following the finest traditions of the South Tyrolean Musikkapellen.
The evenings take place in charming settings: decorated pavilions, romantic courtyards, and farmsteads nestled among the vineyards surrounding Appiano. The music guides the audience on a journey through the land of castles, lakes, and the wines of Appiano. After the concerts, visitors can sample excellent local wines and spend the rest of the evening in good company, enjoying the relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere that brings residents and guests together.
Located along the famous South Tyrolean Wine Road, Appiano is one of the most renowned wine-growing municipalities in the region. The Musical Nights celebrate this identity, weaving together the band culture—deeply rooted in South Tyrolean tradition—with the local food and wine scene. The initiative is organized by the Appiano Tourist Association in collaboration with the local village bands.
The 2026 edition of the Eppaner Musiknächte consists of four evening events, each hosted by the brass band of a hamlet in Appiano sulla strada del vino. The evenings take place in the respective hamlet pavilions, with free admission, and are accompanied by tastings of local wines.
The full schedule includes: Friday, August 7, the Cornaiano Band concert in the Cornaiano pavilion; Tuesday, August 18, the San Paolo Band in the San Paolo pavilion; Friday, August 28, the San Michele Civic Band in the San Michele pavilion; and Friday, September 11, the Frangarto Band in the Frangarto pavilion.
Appiano sulla strada del vino is easily reached by car via the A22 Brenner motorway (Bolzano Sud exit), just a few kilometers from the provincial capital. By train, the main station is Bolzano, which is connected by bus lines to the various hamlets of the municipality.
Concerts are held in the evening, typically starting between 8:00 PM and 8:30 PM. Admission is free. We recommend checking the updated program and any schedule changes with the Appiano Tourist Association.
