Slow Food Travel Farm Festival at Drockerhof

A rural celebration in the heart of the Funes Valley

The Slow Food Travel Farm Festival at Drockerhof is a gastronomic and rural event that brings the Drockerhof farm to life. Situated at an altitude of approximately 1,300 meters in the village of San Giacomo/St. Jakob, within the municipality of Funes/Villnöß (South Tyrol), the event blends culinary delights, artisanal crafts, and local traditions against the stunning alpine backdrop of the Odle peaks.

The Drockerhof farm and its products

Owned by the Messner family for over two centuries, the Drockerhof is home to the Villnösser Brillenschaf (Funes Valley spectacle sheep), a breed protected by the South Tyrolean biodiversity initiative. During the festival, visitors can get a firsthand look at farm life and the sustainable agricultural practices that define the valley.

What to expect

Starting at 11:00 AM, the day offers a rich program designed for the whole family:

• Farmers' market featuring regional products from the Slow Food Travel circuit;
• Culinary specialties based on the rare Graues Geislerrind (Odle grey cattle) and the famous Villnösser Brillenschaf sheep;
• Guided farm tours to learn about the Drockerhof and mountain farming methods;
• Children's program with pony rides and fun activities;
• Live music performed by local Funes musicians.

Funes Valley, South Tyrol's first Slow Food Travel destination

The Funes Valley is the first certified Slow Food Travel destination in South Tyrol: a region where good, clean, and fair food is deeply intertwined with the people, stories, and traditions behind every product. The festival at Drockerhof is organized by Slow Food Travel Villnöss in partnership with the local sheep breeders' association and the Graues Geislerrind cattle association. It is an authentic opportunity to meet producers, taste local specialties, and rediscover the valley's rural craftsmanship.
