About Sea and Taste Festival

The Sea and Taste Festival is a travelling event series spanning ten coastal towns in the province of Palermo along the picturesque Costa d'Oro. In Altavilla Milicia, the evening takes place in Piazza Matrice, featuring complimentary tastings of local catch, native wines, and traditional desserts, followed by a jazz concert under the stars. Promoted by the FLAG GALP Golfo di Termini Imerese, the event celebrates maritime culture, culinary excellence, and the breathtaking landscapes of the Sicilian coast through music, flavours, nature, and history.

A travelling festival of sea, flavours, and music

The Sea and Taste Festival is a summer travelling series winding along the Costa d'Oro, the stretch of coastline in the province of Palermo that connects ten towns overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. Promoted by the FLAG GALP Golfo di Termini Imerese (Fisheries Local Action Group), the festival was created to showcase Sicilian maritime culture, local gastronomic traditions, and coastal landscapes, weaving together tastings, jazz concerts, guided excursions, and show cooking into a single widespread programme.

The Altavilla Milicia stop

In Altavilla Milicia, a town in the Metropolitan City of Palermo, Sicily, the event takes place in Piazza Matrice, in the heart of the historic centre at the foot of the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Milicia. The evening follows the format that characterises all stops of the festival: at 7:30 PM, the free tasting of local seafood begins, accompanied by native wines and traditional sweets, while at 9:00 PM the square transforms into a stage for a free-entry jazz concert under the starry Sicilian summer sky.

Tastings, wines, and excursions

The festival offers experiences that go beyond music. Evenings begin with dishes prepared according to Sicilian maritime tradition, with fresh fish taking centre stage alongside wines from local wineries and show cooking dedicated to local cuisine. The programme is complemented by free guided excursions to the naturalistic and archaeological treasures of the Costa d'Oro, from the Pizzo Cane Nature Reserve to the archaeological sites of Himera and Solunto.

  • Free tastings of local seafood and traditional products
  • Free-entry jazz concerts at sunset
  • Guided excursions through nature, sea, and archaeology
  • Show cooking and promotion of native wines

A journey along the Costa d'Oro

The value of the Sea and Taste Festival lies in its territorial scope: not a single event, but a network of appointments linking Altavilla Milicia to other coastal towns in the province of Palermo, from Bagheria to Cefalรน, from Trabia to Termini Imerese. For visitors, it is an opportunity to discover seaside villages, authentic flavours, and a vibrant Sicilian jazz scene, set against a backdrop of squares, viewpoints, and ancient castles overlooking the sea.

Sea and Taste Festival โ€” edition 2026

The dates for the 2026 edition of the Sea and Taste Festival in Altavilla Milicia have not yet been announced. The travelling series along the Costa d'Oro traditionally takes place on weekends during the summer, roughly from June to September. The programme featuring concerts, tastings, and excursions will be published by the organisers on the official website lacostadoro.com in the weeks leading up to the event.

At the moment, the organisers of the FLAG GALP Golfo di Termini Imerese have not yet communicated the dates and programme for the 2026 edition of the Sea and Taste Festival in Altavilla Milicia. The event, which in previous years has taken place on summer weekends along the Costa d'Oro, is expected to repeat the established format of free local seafood tastings, sunset jazz concerts in Piazza Matrice, and guided excursions. Updated information will be available on the official festival website.
