About Satiro d'Oro

The Satiro d'Oro Festival is one of the most anticipated musical events of the Estate Mazarese, the summer festival program of Mazara del Vallo in western Sicily. A grand, free evening in Piazza della Repubblica, in the heart of the city, where young talents take the stage to win over the audience, accompanied by prominent guests from the Italian music scene. The festival takes its name from the Dancing Satyr, the famous bronze statue that serves as the city's symbol, and offers a chance to discover new voices in a stunning and popular setting.

The Satiro d'Oro Festival

The Satiro d'Oro Festival is a flagship event of the Estate Mazarese, the extensive summer program organized by the municipal administration of Mazara del Vallo, in the province of Trapani, in the southwestern tip of Sicily. Reaching its sixteenth edition in 2025, the festival is now a well-established fixture on the city's calendar, drawing large crowds to the heart of the historic center every year.

A stage for young talent

The festival was born with a clear mission: to provide visibility to emerging artists. The format is that of a talent show, with young singers and performers taking the stage live to impress both the audience and the jury. To add prestige and draw crowds, established guests from the Italian music scene join the new talents on stage, providing memorable entertainment for the city. It is an evening of music, performances, and surprises designed for all ages.

The connection to the Dancing Satyr

The event's name pays homage to the Dancing Satyr, the extraordinary Hellenistic bronze statue recovered in 1998 by the nets of a local fishing boat in the Strait of Sicily. Now housed in the Satiro Museum, the work has become the emblem of Mazara del Vallo and its Mediterranean identity: the festival captures its spirit, celebrating art, beauty, and culture in the city's public square.

Piazza della Repubblica, the heart of the city

The event takes place in Piazza della Repubblica, the stunning baroque living room of Mazara del Vallo, dominated by the Cathedral of the Most Holy Savior and the Seminary of the Clerics. It is one of the most scenic squares in western Sicily, and its evening atmosphere provides the ideal backdrop for a popular and free event, open to both residents and visitors.

Part of the Estate Mazarese

The Satiro d'Oro is part of a summer program that runs from June to October, featuring music festivals, literary reviews, open-air cinema, street food, theater, and cabaret shows, as well as major traditional celebrations like the Festino di San Vito. Together with the other events, it helps make Mazara del Vallo one of the most vibrant destinations in the Trapani area during the summer.
