Great music at the Marconi Congress Centre, spanning jazz, classical, and opera
The Amici della Musica Concert Season in Alcamo is a cornerstone of the cultural landscape in the Trapani area. Established in the late 1980s, the association has cultivated a loyal audience and a high-quality programme, bringing great performers alongside the best local talents to this town in Western Sicily. Each season unfolds throughout the year, with concerts scheduled from winter through to the Christmas holidays.
What sets this festival apart is its broad perspective. The programme is not limited to a single musical language but ranges from jazz to classical music, from opera to crossover projects. Audiences can enjoy jazz quintets reinterpreting international classics, saxophone orchestras, brass ensembles, piano recitals, chamber music groups, and semi-staged opera selections. This variety is designed to appeal to a wide audience, from the most discerning music enthusiasts to families experiencing live concerts for the first time.
Concerts are held in the auditorium of the Marconi Congress Centre, located on Corso VI Aprile in the centre of Alcamo. The venue offers excellent acoustics and a convenient location, within walking distance of the city heart. The season operates on a subscription basis, fostering a dedicated audience throughout the year.
In a region where live classical music events are rare, the work of Amici della Musica serves as a vital cultural anchor. The decision to showcase Alcamese and Sicilian artists confirms the association's commitment to nurturing local talent, while the presence of established performers ensures the festival's national reach. For those visiting Alcamo and the province of Trapani, a concert is the perfect opportunity to discover a city that remains vibrant beyond the summer season, all within an intimate and welcoming setting.
2026 marks forty years since the first Amici della Musica season in Alcamo, "a milestone that tells a story of passion, continuity, and love for music". The programme features 17 concerts, all held at the Marconi Congress Centre auditorium, opening on Sunday 25 January with the Mauro Carpi Quintet, a jazz ensemble led by violinist Mauro Carpi with Tony Terrasi on piano, Marco Gaudio on double bass, Calogero Marrali on drums, and Antonella Parnasso on vocals, in a journey through Gershwin, Joe Venuti, Cole Porter, Grappelli/Reinhardt, and Charlie Shavers.
The season embraces all the genres of the festival, with space also dedicated to young Alcamese talents.
