About Sapori Senza Frontiere

Sapori Senza Frontiere is the multicultural festival of Castelbuono, nestled in the heart of the Madonie mountains, transforming this village in the province of Palermo into a vibrant crossroads of cultures. For an autumn weekend, the squares come alive with food stalls from Senegal, Brazil, Hungary, Tunisia, Palestine, Ethiopia, and Sri Lanka, complemented by live music, international dance, African percussion, and activities for children. It is a journey through the world's flavors, sounds, and traditions, built on the values of integration, solidarity, and dialogue between peoples and religions.

A bridge of cultures in the heart of the Madonie

Sapori Senza Frontiere is the multicultural festival that brings Castelbuono to life every autumn. A stunning medieval village in the province of Palermo, it is tucked away within the Madonie Park. Promoted by the Castelbuono municipal administration, the event was created with the explicit goal of building bridges of dialogue and exchange between diverse cultures, peoples, and religions, based on the belief that a culture of integration and solidarity is essential for the future of humanity.

A gastronomic journey around the world

The heart of the event is the grand multicultural market: along the streets and in the squares of the historic center, foreign delegations set up food stalls where visitors can sample typical dishes and products from numerous countries. Recent editions have featured communities from Senegal, Brazil, Hungary, Tunisia, Palestine, Ethiopia, and Sri Lanka, each sharing their own recipes, flavors, and artisanal traditions. Alongside the food, there are exhibitions, displays of traditional crafts, and embroidery, all in an atmosphere of mutual curiosity and exchange.

Music, dance, and live performances

The program alternates between gastronomic experiences and artistic offerings: live music featuring international artists, from Brazilian bossa nova to African percussion jam sessions, and evening DJ sets. There is no shortage of acrobatic shows, dance performances, and folklore from the guest groups, which enliven the squares until late at night.

Space for children and solidarity themes

Sapori Senza Frontiere pays great attention to families and children, with shows and intercultural workshops designed for the little ones. To round off the event, a conference is held each year dedicated to themes of hospitality, integration, and peace, with the participation of local administrators, associations, and organizations such as Slow Food Sicilia.

Castelbuono and the Madonie

Visiting Sapori Senza Frontiere is also the perfect opportunity to discover Castelbuono, one of Sicily's most beautiful villages, dominated by the imposing Castello dei Ventimiglia and famous for its confectionery tradition and the 'manna' of the Madonie. The festival, included in the municipal calendar of events, thus combines the promotion of the Madonie territory with the fostering of an open, plural, and supportive culture in the heart of the Sicilian Region.

Sapori Senza Frontiere — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of Sapori Senza Frontiere in Castelbuono is expected to take place in the autumn, as per tradition. Official dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced by the municipal administration; we recommend following the official channels of the Municipality of Castelbuono for the definitive calendar and program.
