A month of events, markets, and Christmas traditions in the heart of Enna

EnNatale is the festive program that illuminates the historic center of Enna every winter. Perched high in the mountains of central Sicily, the city is Italy's highest provincial capital. Promoted by Pro Loco Proserpina, the event brings together markets, tastings, workshops, concerts, and performances that enliven the city's streets and squares for over a month, from mid-December until the Epiphany.
Among the most beloved offerings are the tastings of traditional Sicilian sweets: cuccìa, prepared by volunteers in various versions, and buccellati, the classic Christmas pastries filled with figs and dried fruit. Alongside the tastings, the program features prize-winning bingo games (tombolate), creative workshops dedicated to table decorations, and social gatherings designed for members and visitors alike, blending culinary delights with community spirit.
EnNatale places a special focus on the little ones: Santa Claus and his elves welcome children to help them write their letters and hand out treats, while the puppet theater stages the misadventures of Santa and the Befana, complete with games, snacks, and face painting. Throughout the city center, the 'Babbonataline' distribute candy and cheer, spreading Christmas magic across the town.
The season is also marked by musical events with deep cultural roots: a storyteller recounts the Nativity through traditional songs and tales in the Church of San Giuseppe, while the gospel concert in the Church of San Tommaso fills the aisles with the voices of dedicated choirs. The backdrop is the Enna historic center, with its noble palaces like Palazzo Grimaldi and views of the Castello di Lombardia.
Enriching the program is the Le Case del Natale initiative, promoted by Confartigianato Enna and DMO Sicilia Centrale with the support of the Municipality of Enna: vacant shops between Via Roma and Piazza Bovio are transformed into themed houses dedicated to local flavors, creativity, and the region, featuring tastings from local artisans, installations, and entertainment in a project aimed at revitalizing the historic center.
With almost all events free of charge, EnNatale is a widespread festival that combines the popular appeal of markets and fairs with the cultural and spiritual dimensions of Christmas, celebrating the traditions of Enna and Sicily. It is the perfect opportunity to discover the winter charm of the city, amidst lights, traditional sweets, and community moments.
The calendar for the 2026 edition of EnNatale has not yet been released. Based on previous years, the festival is expected to return during the Christmas season in the historic center of Enna, with markets, tastings of traditional sweets, bingo games, workshops, and activities for children. Information will be updated as soon as Pro Loco Proserpina publishes the official dates and program.
Events take place in the historic center of Enna (province of Enna, Sicily), including the Pro Loco Club at Palazzo Grimaldi (Via Marchese Mario Grimaldi 8), the churches of San Giuseppe and San Tommaso, Via Roma, and Piazza Bovio.
