About Dolcemente Castelbuono

In the heart of the Madonie mountains, Dolcemente Castelbuono transforms the historic center of the village into a grand culinary village every year, dedicated to Sicilian pastry and the Madonie Truffle. During the Immaculate Conception weekend, amidst streets and squares decorated for Christmas, visitors can enjoy free tastings, live cooking demonstrations by master pastry chefs, craft markets, high-quality street food, and entertainment for the whole family. Cannoli, Castelbuono panettone, Testa di Turco, and buccellato are the stars of a festival celebrating confectionery excellence and the flavors of the Madonie territory in the province of Palermo.

A celebration of sweetness in the Madonie village

Dolcemente Castelbuono is the festival dedicated to Sicilian sweets and Madonie Truffles that, every year during the Immaculate Conception period, brings the historic center of Castelbuono to life—one of the most charming villages in the Madonie Park, in the province of Palermo. For an entire weekend, the town's streets and squares turn into a large village of taste, where local pastry traditions meet the magical atmosphere of Christmas.

Signature flavors

Castelbuono is famous throughout Sicily for its confectionery and artisanal panettone, known well beyond regional borders. During the event, you can sample the territory's most beloved specialties:

  • Sicilian cannoli and cassata
  • Castelbuono panettone
  • Testa di Turco, a spoon dessert made with fried pastry sheets, biancomangiare cream, and cinnamon
  • Buccellato, including a giant version prepared specifically for the festival
  • Frutta martorana and Modica chocolate
  • Madonie Truffle, an excellent local product

Tastings, cooking shows, and markets

Admission to the event is free. Along the route, the town's historic pastry shops and stalls set up for the occasion offer free tastings, while master pastry chefs perform cooking shows dedicated to traditional sweets. There is also plenty of high-quality street food, local cured meats and cheeses, craft beers, and mulled wine, as well as craft markets where you can purchase local products and art objects.

Entertainment for families

Dolcemente Castelbuono is also a celebration for children: the village comes alive with circus acts, roaming musical performances, marching bands, bagpipers playing Christmas carols, and a play area set up in Piazza Castello. Children can meet Santa Claus in his cottage and deliver their letters in an atmosphere of true Christmas magic.

A local event

The event is organized by the Associazione Baz'Art Sicilia with the support of the Municipality of Castelbuono, in the Sicily Region. More than just a food festival, Dolcemente Castelbuono is an opportunity to discover a medieval village of extraordinary beauty, nestled in the greenery of the Madonie, and to experience Christmas amidst authentic flavors and popular traditions.
