About Amici della Musica Caccamo
A history dating back to 1988
Founded in May 1988 in Caccamo, in the province of Palermo, the Amici della Musica "Benedetto Albanese" Association is today one of the most firmly established musical institutions in Sicily. Named in memory of the maestro Benedetto Albanese, the association offers a rich concert season every year that continuously enriches the local cultural life: 2026 marks the 38th consecutive season, a milestone few provincial musical organizations can claim.
Much more than just a concert series
The program blends diverse genres and formats: chamber music, opera recitals, choral concerts, summer opera productions, masterclasses, and training courses. Alongside the concerts, the association organizes initiatives with a strong social vocation, such as concerts for schools and charity events, including a collaboration with AIL. However, the beating heart remains the promotion of young talent, with two events that have become national and international benchmarks.
- National Competition for Young Musicians: established in 1992 on a regional level and grown to a national scale, it is held under the High Patronage of the President of the Italian Republic.
- International Opera Singing Competition: the most recent of the competitions, dedicated to emerging voices in opera, with a special focus on the international operatic scene.
- Competition for School Sections: aimed at soloists, groups, orchestras, and school choirs.

The 38th Concert Season of the Amici della Musica "Benedetto Albanese" Association unfolds throughout 2026 and holds special significance: it marks the 50th anniversary of the death of maestro Benedetto Albanese, celebrated with a concert dedicated to his compositions. Following the success of "The Barber of Seville" production, the season continues its operatic journey with the 3rd International Opera Singing Competition and, in the summer, the staging of a major opera. Also confirmed are the 29th National Competition for Young Musicians (under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic) and the competition for school sections.

- Concert by the Trio Accorde, inaugurating the 38th concert season at the San Marco Auditorium.
