A night of flavor in the heart of the Comino Valley

Sapori nel Borgo is the premier summer food and wine event in Terelle, a small mountain town in the province of Frosinone perched on the slopes of Monte Cairo, between the Comino Valley and the Cassino area. For one summer evening, the ancient streets of Borgo Castello are transformed into a sprawling tasting trail: visitors stroll through stone alleys and panoramic squares, sampling traditional Ciociaria dishes accompanied by folk music at every turn. The event is organized by the Pro Loco Terelle association with the patronage of the Municipality of Terelle and the Lazio Region, and in 2026 it celebrates its fifth edition on Saturday, July 25th.

The culinary trail

The heart of the event is the roaming menu, designed to help visitors rediscover the authentic and genuine flavors of local cuisine. Along the route, you can enjoy:

• Polenta with pork spare rib sauce
• Pecora alla terellese, the village's signature dish
• Casarecce pasta with sausage, mushrooms, and truffle
• Potato gnocchi with tomato sauce
• Sausage and beans
• Fried pizza and tripe in sauce
• Truffle bruschetta and mutton skewers
• Cheeses from local farms and traditional desserts

The dishes are accompanied by wine, beer, water, and soft drinks, as well as an area dedicated to aperitifs and cocktails. Many preparations are handled directly by local producers and businesses, from farms to village bars: a short supply chain that tells the story of the gastronomic identity of Terelle and the Ciociaria region.

Folk music and DJ sets under the stars

The evening's soundtrack ranges from traditional folk music to more modern rhythms. In the late afternoon, folk dance groups animate the village streets, while in the evening, Piazzetta Castello hosts a major folk music concert; the night concludes with a DJ set for dancing under the stars until late. The 2026 edition features Lo Scacciapensieri, the Piccola Orchestra Popolare Cantodinizio, and a DJ set by Gino Vozzolo, with guest appearances by Alex Baris and Luca Costantino.

Borgo Castello, a natural stage

Terelle is one of the highest villages in the province of Frosinone: its stone houses climb the slopes of Monte Cairo at about 900 meters above sea level, offering views that stretch across the valley below. Borgo Castello, the oldest part of the village, provides a striking backdrop for the festival, featuring staircases, arches, and panoramic overlooks that become particularly enchanting at dusk, when the stand lights illuminate the alleys.

The Village of Good Breath

Sapori nel Borgo is a highlight of the summer calendar "Il Borgo del Buon Respiro — E...state a Terelle," a program of events promoted by the municipal administration that brings together excursions, religious festivals, cultural meetings, and musical evenings between June and September. Terelle is also one of the chestnut-growing municipalities of the Lazio Region, a land of chestnuts and mountains: an authentic rural context that the festival helps to promote, attracting visitors from all over the valley and beyond.
