Patron saint celebrations in the Sant'Antonio hamlet of Piasco
The Sant'Antonio Festival is the annual event that brings the Sant'Antonio hamlet of Piasco to life. Located in the Province of Cuneo, Piedmont, at the entrance to the Varaita Valley, this is one of those authentic patronal festivals that reveal the heart of mountain communities: no big stages or stars, just an entire village gathering around its saint, its chapel, and a shared table.
The heart of the festival takes place on the Saturday and Sunday closest to the saint's feast day, preceded by a week of evening masses at the Sant'Antonio Chapel. Saturday kicks off with the Village Dinner (offered on a voluntary donation basis), followed by a musical evening that keeps the hamlet dancing late into the night.
Sunday is the most significant day: the morning Solemn Mass is accompanied by the characteristic blessing of cars and motorcycles, a beloved ritual that draws participants from neighboring towns. After the complimentary aperitif, the afternoon is dedicated to traditional games—the 'gara al punto' (point competition) on the church square and pétanque at the ACLI Club—while children enjoy their own games and the unmissable Nutella Party. The day concludes with evening mass, the Friendship Dinner, and another night of music and dancing.
The event is entirely organized by the A.P.S. Pro Loco Piasco, whose volunteers keep a tradition alive that bridges generations. The donation-based dinners, meals served until supplies last, and free entry make this a deeply popular event where togetherness matters more than spectacle.
The Sant'Antonio Festival is the perfect opportunity to discover an authentic hamlet in the Saluzzo area and experience Piedmontese village life firsthand, filled with Occitan and traditional music, blessings, outdoor games, and simple, honest cuisine. A small but significant event that, every June, makes the heart of the Piasco community beat faster.
The 2026 edition confirmed the traditional festival calendar, with weekend festivities preceded by evening masses at the Sant'Antonio Chapel from June 8 to 12 at 8:00 PM.
Saturday and Sunday featured donation-based dinners, the blessing of cars and motorcycles, games for all ages, and two musical evenings, including dance music and entertainment provided by the A.P.S. Pro Loco Piasco. Admission was free.
Meals are served until supplies last. The organizers decline all responsibility for any damage to people and/or property.
