Three nights of seafood cuisine in Castelfranco di Sotto
In the heart of the lower Valdarno, in Castelfranco di Sotto (Province of Pisa), one of the local community's most cherished gastronomic events returns every summer: the Fish Festival organized by the Nobile Contrada San Martino in Catiana. For three consecutive nights, the Contrada's courtyard on Via A. De Gasperi transforms into a large open-air restaurant, where residents and visitors gather at long tables to enjoy a menu entirely inspired by seafood cuisine.
In Tuscany, the contrade (districts) are much more than simple territorial subdivisions: they represent an identity and a deep bond between people and their neighborhood. The Fish Festival is one of the moments when this spirit of belonging shines brightest. Volunteers from the Contrada San Martino in Catiana handle the preparation and service in a festive atmosphere that brings generations together. It is an authentic festival, far from the typical tourist circuits, where you can experience the genuine charm of Italian village celebrations.
The menu revolves entirely around fish and the flavors of the sea: appetizers, pasta dishes, fried fish, and seafood specialties prepared according to tradition. The kitchen works at full capacity for all three nights, with a special focus on the freshness of the ingredients. For those unable to stay for dinner, a convenient takeaway service is available in front of the Contrada headquarters.

Castelfranco di Sotto is easily accessible from the Via Francigena and is located a short distance from San Miniato, Fucecchio, and the leather district, in an area rich in Tuscan food and wine traditions.
For the 2026 edition, the Nobile Contrada San Martino in Catiana once again offers its evenings dedicated to fish in the center of Castelfranco di Sotto. The menu is entirely inspired by seafood cuisine, with appetizers, pasta dishes, fried fish, and seafood specialties prepared by the Contrada's volunteers.
The event is part of the "Summer in Castelfranco di Sotto" program. Dinners begin around 8:00 PM; a takeaway service is also available. Reservations are recommended.

Castelfranco di Sotto (PI) can be reached by car via the SS67 or the FI-PI-LI highway (Castelfranco di Sotto exit). The San Romano-Montopoli-Santa Croce railway station is the closest.
Dinners start from 8:00 PM. Takeaway service is available on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM; on Sunday, it is also available from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM.
