Three days of celebration around the only cooked ham in the Aosta Valley, in the Gran San Bernardo valley
The Grilled Ham Festival celebrates in Saint-Oyen, in the Gran San Bernardo valley, a unique product: grilled ham, the first and only cooked ham produced in the Aosta Valley. Recognized as a traditional agri-food product, it is the gastronomic symbol of the town and gives its name to this historic event.
The preparation of the ham is a small ritual: the leg is placed in brine with salt, spices, and honey, cooked for 24 hours by steaming, and finally roasted on a spit in a wood-fired oven, basted with local gluten-free craft beer. The result is a fragrant and tender ham, traditionally served with polenta, green beans, or boiled potatoes.
During the three days of the festival, the ham can be tasted in the food pavilion and in the town's restaurants. The event, organized by the Pro Loco of Saint-Oyen, alternates convivial moments, dance evenings, and numerous sports and recreational initiatives: ultra-marathon, fishing competitions, petanque and padel tournaments, as well as entertainment for children.
The Municipality of Saint-Oyen is located along the ancient road leading to the Gran San Bernardo Pass, a crossroads for pilgrims and travelers for centuries. In this high mountain setting, in the Aosta Valley Region, the festival has become an unmissable summer event.
The 2026 Grilled Ham Festival returns to Saint-Oyen from July 31st to August 2nd. The detailed schedule will be confirmed by the Pro Loco in the weeks preceding the event.
