About Sagra della Favò

In the charming village of Ozein, a hamlet of Aymavilles, the Sagra della Favò takes place every summer, dedicated to one of the most beloved dishes of Aosta Valley cuisine. The Favò is a rich pasta dish seasoned with Fontina cheese, black bread toasted in butter, sausage, pancetta, and delicious broad beans. Featuring the traditional Saturday evening "veillà" (gathering), ancient crafts, dancing evenings, and children's entertainment, the sagra is an unmissable summer event among the vineyards of Aymavilles.

The Favò, signature dish of the Aosta Valley

The Sagra della Favò takes place in Ozein, a picturesque mountain hamlet in the Municipality of Aymavilles, in the Aosta Valley. The star is the Favò, one of the most characteristic dishes of Aosta Valley cuisine: a hearty first course made with pasta, Fontina cheese, black bread toasted in butter, sausage, pancetta, and broad beans. A peasant dish, created to warm and nourish, that tells the rural soul of these valleys.

The "Veillà" and Ancient Crafts

The heart of the sagra is the "Ozeinta Veillà", the traditional Saturday evening gathering in the village: crafts, local products, old-fashioned games, and ancient trades come alive among the stone houses of Ozein, recreating the atmosphere of evenings past. A journey into the rural memory of the Aosta Valley that gives the event an authentic flavor.

Taste, Music, and Local Collaborations

The sagra combines the tasting of Favò with live music dance evenings, children's entertainment, a mini hill climb, and moments of insight into local history. In recent years, the Ozein Favò has been enhanced by collaboration with the "Jambon alla Brace" Association of Saint-Oyen, which offers grilled ham as an accompaniment to the main dish.

An Event by the Municipality of Aymavilles

Organized by the Pro Loco of Aymavilles, the cultural association La Tornalla d'Ozein, and the Municipality of Aymavilles, the sagra is one of the most cherished gastronomic events of the Aosta Valley summer, in a territory also known for its castle and the vineyards of the Aosta Valley Region.

Sagra della Favò — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of the Sagra della Favò di Ozein will take place on Saturday, July 25, and Sunday, July 26, in the village of Ozein, a hamlet of Aymavilles. Two days featuring the Favò, the traditional Saturday evening "veillà", dinners and lunches, dance evenings, and children's entertainment.
