The Lucanian truffle takes center stage at Ferragosto

Since 1995, on August 14th, Marsicovetere, a village in the Val d'Agri in the Province of Potenza, has celebrated its prized Lucanian truffle with the Sagra del Tartufo e Rassegna Enogastronomica dei Vini Lucani (Truffle Festival and Review of Lucanian Wines). The event enlivens the historic center of the town, transforming the most characteristic alleys and picturesque corners into a grand culinary journey.

A journey through wine and typical products

Strolling along the gastronomic itinerary, visitors can taste truffle dishes accompanied by a good glass of Lucanian wine, often organic, stopping at stalls offering typical local products: Marsico ham and cured meats, Pecorino cheese from Moliterno, other cheeses, and of course, summer truffles. The festival attracts thousands of visitors each year who flock to the squares and alleys to savor the truffle cuisine expertly prepared by restaurateurs from the Province of Potenza.

A well-established tradition

With over twenty years of history, the Sagra del Tartufo is a fixed event of the Lucanian summer, successfully combining the promotion of an excellent product with the discovery of an authentic village nestled in the green Appennino Lucano mountains. The edition takes place on the eve of the nearby Sagra del Prosciutto (Ham Festival) of Monte Volturino, offering visitors to the Val d'Agri two consecutive days dedicated to the flavors of the region.
