The pasta, prince of Tramutola's cuisine, celebrates
In Tramutola, a village in the Val d'Agri within the province of Potenza, there is a dish that encapsulates the identity of the town: ferricello. It is a fresh handmade pasta, shaped around a thin knitting needle (hence the name), an heir to a domestic tradition passed down through generations. The Proloco Tramutola APS wanted to dedicate a festival to it to revive pride and make it the symbol of Tramutola's cuisine.
The Sagra del Ferricello transforms the village center into a large space for conviviality. The food stalls offer ferricello dressed according to traditional Lucanian recipes, accompanied by typical local products and wines from the Val d'Agri. The festival takes place on summer evenings, usually in August, and combines tastings with folk music, dancing, and entertainment for all ages.
Beyond the delicious food, the festival is an opportunity to showcase Tramutola and the Val d'Agri, a land of waters, forests, and ancient crafts. The event, enlivened by Pro Loco volunteers, is a highly anticipated occasion for the community and for the many people from Tramutola who return to their hometown during the summer, gathering around a dish that tastes like home.
For 2026 too, the Proloco Tramutola APS will bring back the Sagra del Ferricello on summer evenings in August, confirming the continuity of an event that celebrates the signature pasta of Tramutola's cuisine. The food stalls will offer ferricello according to traditional recipes, accompanied by typical products and wines from the Val d'Agri.
The program and the precise date for the 2026 edition will be announced by Proloco Tramutola in the weeks preceding the event. The traditional structure of the festival includes:
