In Grumento Nova, a village in the province of Potenza in the heart of Val d'Agri, the Sagra del Vino is a traditional late-summer event. It takes place every year on the last Thursday of August and celebrates the peasant and wine-growing culture of the area, with wine and typical Lucanian product tastings in the alleys of the historic center.
An evening of taste and community
Stalls and stands liven up the town with the flavors of local tradition, accompanied by music and moments of conviviality that attract residents, vacationers, and emigrants returning for the summer. The sagra ideally opens the week of the grand patron saint festivities in honor of the Madonna di Monserrato, which culminate on the last Sunday of the month.
Between archaeology and nature
Experiencing Grumento Nova during these days means combining the pleasure of food and wine with the discovery of a village with a strong identity, custodian of the archaeological area of ancient Grumentum and overlooking the National Park of the Lucanian Apennines Val d'Agri Lagonegrese.

In 2026, Grumento Nova renews the Sagra del Vino on the evening of the last Thursday of August (August 27), with tastings of local wine and typical Lucanian products, music, and moments of conviviality in the alleys of the historic center. The sagra precedes the grand festivities in honor of the Madonna di Monserrato by a few days.
Programme Sagra del Vino Grumento 2026
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be announced by the Pro Loco and the Municipality of Grumento Nova in the weeks prior. The traditional structure of the evening includes:
- Evening — opening of stalls with tastings of local wine and typical Lucanian products in the historic center
- Later in the evening — music and entertainment, moments of conviviality for residents and visitors

Grumento Nova can be reached by car from Val d'Agri, along the SS598 Fondovalle dell'Agri, between Potenza and Lagonegrese.
