In the heart of the Vasto summer, the San Lorenzo district in Vasto, in the province of Chieti, comes alive for one of the most cherished local festivals: the Sagne e Fasciule Festival. The name, in the local dialect, refers to a simple and hearty dish from the Abruzzo peasant tradition: sagne, wide strips of handmade pasta, served with fasciule, or beans. It is a humble yet iconic dish that tells the story of home cooking and the gastronomic heritage of the village.

A tradition tied to the night of Saint Lawrence

The event takes place on the evenings around August 10th, the feast day of Saint Lawrence the Martyr and the night of the shooting stars. This is no coincidence: the festival combines the district's patron saint with the magic of the Perseids, offering open-air dinners under the starry sky. Organized by the San Lorenzo Martire Parish, the festivities are held in the square in front of the church, starting at 8:00 PM.
