Every December, the historic center of Bucchianico, a small town in the province of Chieti, Abruzzo, transforms to host the Christmas Market. The town's streets and the central Piazza San Camillo De Lellis fill with decorated wooden huts, fairy lights, and ornaments that recreate the classic Advent atmosphere of the Apennine villages.
The heart of the event is the wooden huts, where hobbyists, artisans, and local producers showcase their work. Among the stalls, you will find handicrafts, handmade Christmas decorations, gift ideas, and gastronomic specialties from the Abruzzo region. There is no shortage of festive sweets, roasted chestnuts, and mulled wine to warm visitors during the winter days.
Bucchianico is a village deeply connected to the figure of Saint Camillus de Lellis, who was born here, and is known throughout the region for the spectacular Festa dei Banderesi held in May. During the Christmas season, the town changes its look, offering visitors a more intimate and family-friendly experience, perfect for those seeking the authentic charm of Abruzzo's Christmas markets away from the crowds of big cities. The event is part of the rich Christmas calendar of the province of Chieti, which brings the entire Advent period to life across mountain villages and small towns.
The Bucchianico Christmas Market is also expected in December 2026 in the historic center of the village, in the province of Chieti. Dates and the program for the 2026 edition have not yet been released: the event, once confirmed, will traditionally feature wooden huts with crafts and typical Abruzzo products, along with events dedicated to families and children. Information will be updated as soon as it becomes available.
