The artisanal chocolate fair in the heart of Chieti
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Chocofestival has become a staple of the autumn season in Chieti. Every November, Corso Marrucino, the pedestrian-friendly heart and living room of Chieti, fills with themed stalls dedicated to artisanal chocolate and fine pastry. For three days, the city's main thoroughfare turns into a massive open-air patisserie, where the scent of chocolate accompanies leisurely strolls, tastings, and discoveries.
The event gathers around fifteen exhibitors from various Italian regions, all specializing in chocolate making and gourmet pastry. Pralines, chocolate bars, sculpted creations, traditional sweets, and innovative treats line the street, taking visitors on a true journey through the world of cocoa. In recent years, the event has expanded to include a dedicated area for wine and chocolate pairings, highlighting the fascinating interplay of flavors.
The Chocofestival isn't just for adults with a sweet tooth; much of the program is designed for children and families. Creative workshops like Hands in the Dough, Detective at the Museum, and From Clay to Vase, along with puppet shows, mascots, roaming bands, and street performers, bring the weekend to life. These activities are complemented by guided tours of the nearby La Civitella Museum, allowing visitors to combine the pleasure of chocolate with the discovery of Chieti's archaeological heritage.
The initiative is promoted by Confartigianato Imprese Chieti L'Aquila, with the support of the Municipality of Chieti and the Chieti Pescara Chamber of Commerce. Created to promote confectionery craftsmanship and enliven the historic center in November, the festival has grown with every edition, becoming one of the most anticipated food and wine events of the autumn in Abruzzo, drawing visitors from across the province and the region.
The stall program is often accompanied by cultural events at the Teatro Marrucino and various initiatives throughout the city, making the Chocofestival an event that weaves together taste, entertainment, and culture. All of this takes place in the charming setting of Chieti's historic center, one of the oldest regional capitals in Italy.
The 2026 edition of the Chocofestival in Chieti has not yet been officially announced. Historically, the event is held in November along Corso Marrucino, featuring artisanal chocolate stalls, tastings, children's workshops, and performances. Detailed dates and the program will be published by the organizers in the months leading up to the event: we recommend checking the official website and the channels of Confartigianato Imprese Chieti L'Aquila for updates.
Chieti is accessible by car via the A25 motorway (Chieti-Pescara exit) and by train via the Chieti station. The historic center, where the Chocofestival takes place along Corso Marrucino, is located in the upper part of the city. In recent editions, a free shuttle service has been provided from peripheral parking areas to the center.
Access to the exhibition area along the main street is generally free; tastings and purchases at the stalls are paid. The event runs throughout the day, with peak attendance during the weekend.
We recommend reaching the center on foot or using the shuttle buses to avoid traffic and parking issues. Combine your visit with a trip to the La Civitella Archaeological Museum and a tour of Chieti's historic center.
