Three days of environment, music, and local heritage in the heart of the Roero region
Roero Cultura is the annual festival that showcases the identity of the Roero, a land of hills, rocky ridges, and vineyards stretching between the provinces of Cuneo and Asti, in Piedmont. Promoted by the Associazione Valorizzazione Roero, chaired by Roberto Cerrato, the event is itinerant: each edition selects a different town to serve as the capital for a few days. Following Canale, 2026 marks the turn of Monticello d'Alba, in the province of Cuneo, which hosts the third edition.
The centerpiece of the event is the majestic Castello dei Conti Roero, one of the most fascinating historic residences in the Langhe and Roero, complete with its centuries-old park. The courtyard, historic halls, and park become the stage for three days of concerts, gala dinners, and guided tours, while the Cappella di San Ponzio, with its medieval frescoes, opens to the public for a special occasion.
The guiding theme of Roero Cultura is the promotion of the Roero as a territory of agri-food excellence, biodiversity, and environmental awareness. The program weaves together classical and pop music, conventions with experts from the wine and environmental sectors, photography exhibitions, meetings dedicated to young people and local startups, as well as food and wine moments that bring the typical products of the Roero to the table. There is also space for literary culture: 2026 anticipates the centenary of the birth of the writer and journalist Giovanni Arpino, a figure closely linked to the territory.
Designed for both local residents and visitors, the festival involves schools, libraries, Pro Loco associations, and groups from the entire district. It is the ideal opportunity to discover Monticello d'Alba and the Roero away from the more crowded circuits of the nearby Langhe, amidst UNESCO World Heritage hilly landscapes, castles, and a top-tier food and wine tradition.
The 2026 edition of Roero Cultura, the third of the event promoted by the Associazione Valorizzazione Roero, took place in Monticello d'Alba from June 5th to 7th, transforming the town into the capital of the Roero for an entire weekend. The main theme was the Roero as a territory of agri-food excellence, biodiversity, and environmental awareness.
Highlights of the program included a classical music concert in the courtyard of the Castello dei Conti Roero curated by the Alba Music Festival, a convention on local excellence, a photography exhibition by Carlo Avataneo, the "Musica e Parole" show, and the special opening of the Cappella di San Ponzio with its medieval frescoes.
Monticello d'Alba is located in the province of Cuneo, just a few kilometers from Alba and Bra. By car: A6 Turin-Savona motorway (Marene exit) or A33 Asti-Cuneo, then provincial roads towards the Roero. By train: Alba or Bra stations, well-connected to Turin, with onward travel by bus or car.
Events take place mainly at the Castello dei Conti Roero, in Piazza San Ponzio, and in the civic halls of Monticello d'Alba.
