Five evenings of wood-fired pizza, craft beer, and live music in Piazza Mercato

Every late summer, Roccapiemonte, a town in the province of Salerno, Campania, dedicates five evenings to the signature dish of Neapolitan cuisine. The Roccapiemonte Pizza Festival, also known as the Pizza and Beer Festival, began as a local village fair and has grown over the years into one of the area's most anticipated gastronomic events, drawing visitors from neighboring towns and the entire Sarno Valley.
The nerve center of the event is Piazza Mercato, which transforms into a large open-air space featuring wood-fired ovens, food stalls, tasting areas, and a stage for performances. For the 2025 edition, the nearby Via Dott. Pascarelli was temporarily closed to vehicle traffic from 6:00 PM to midnight, with parking prohibited on both sides to ensure public safety.
The undisputed star is wood-fired pizza, prepared by master pizzaiolos who rotate at the counters throughout the festival. Alongside classic pizzas, you will find traditional Neapolitan fried snacks and a selection of craft beers, as well as stalls featuring local products and artisanal sweets.
In 2025, the event hosted the historic Pizzeria Sorbillo from Naples, featuring their signature fried pizza, and Kmzero_food with their own fried delicacies.
Each evening is accompanied by live music, artist performances, and entertainment designed for all ages. The festival maintains a family-friendly atmosphere, welcoming everyone from groups of friends to families with children, who find the pedestrianized square a safe place to spend the evening. Admission to the area has consistently been free in past editions; you only pay for what you consume at the stalls.
Held between late August and early September, the Roccapiemonte Pizza Festival is one of the last great social gatherings of the Campanian summer before the autumn season begins. It is also a key event in the town's summer calendar, alongside other initiatives promoted by the local administration and associations.
Roccapiemonte is located inland in the province of Salerno, just a few kilometers from Nocera Inferiore, Castel San Giorgio, and Mercato San Severino, in an area that blends the agricultural heritage of the Agro Nocerino-Sarnese with proximity to the coast. Visitors can combine the festival with a stroll through the town center and neighboring villages, or explore the province's most famous destinations, from the Amalfi Coast to the archaeological sites of the Vesuvius area. In this context, pizza is more than just a dish: it is a piece of collective identity that the festival brings back to the center of the square, with the same natural ease of a summer evening spent outdoors.
The 2026 edition of the Roccapiemonte Pizza Festival has not yet been officially announced: as of the update date of this page, no communications have been released by either the Municipality of Roccapiemonte or the organizers regarding the dates and program of the event.
The reference remains the usual period of the festival, spanning late August and early September, with Piazza Mercato as the main venue. Those wishing to attend can follow the event's social media channels and the municipal administration's announcements, where dates, guests, and traffic regulations are typically released in the weeks immediately preceding the event.
Piazza Mercato, Roccapiemonte (SA), province of Salerno, Campania. The festival area includes the square and adjacent streets.
By car: Take the Castel San Giorgio exit on the A30 Caserta-Salerno motorway, then follow provincial roads to Roccapiemonte. By train: The reference station is Nocera Inferiore, on the Naples-Salerno line, which is connected to the town by local buses.
During the festival evenings, traffic around Piazza Mercato is modified: in 2025, Via Dott. Pascarelli was closed to traffic from 6:00 PM to midnight, with parking prohibited on both sides. It is advisable to park in the outer streets and reach the area on foot.
In past editions, admission has been free; pizzas, fried snacks, and beers are paid for directly at the stalls.
The busiest evenings are on the weekend: arriving early helps avoid queues at the ovens. Late August temperatures remain mild even in the evening, but a light sweater may be useful after midnight.
