Two evenings of traditional Tramonti pizza, music, and local heritage in Pietre di Tramonti
Every year, around mid-August, the hamlet of Pietre in Tramonti, in the province of Salerno, becomes a landmark for food lovers on the Amalfi Coast. The Pizza Night takes over the square of the Church of San Felice for two evenings, transforming it into a large open-air dining area where people eat, drink, and dance until late. It is a village festival in the most authentic sense: born around the parish and the local families, it attracts hundreds of visitors from neighboring towns and the coast every year.
It is no coincidence that Tramonti dedicates a festival to pizza. This mountain village on the Amalfi Coast, nestled between the Lattari Mountains and formed by a constellation of hamlets scattered among vineyards and chestnut groves, is known as the village of pizza makers. Since the post-WWII era, dozens of Tramonti families emigrated to Northern Italy and later to the Americas, bringing their unique way of making pizza with them and turning migration into a true entrepreneurial network. The Tramonti style is now recognized alongside the Neapolitan, Cilento, and Caserta styles, celebrating local products: provola and fiordilatte cheese from the Lattari Mountains, olive oil, local tomatoes, and the Sfusato Amalfitano lemon.
The stalls open at 8:30 PM and offer a wide selection of pizzas made according to ancient local recipes with high-quality ingredients. The organizers have chosen a roaming culinary tour format, guiding visitors through stations set up in the characteristic centuries-old vineyard surrounding the square: you walk, taste, and chat, with the backdrop of terraced hills and the mountains that separate Tramonti from the sea.
The Pizza Night is not just about food. Each evening features a musical program ranging from Latin rhythms to traditional Campanian tammurriata, and from live shows to 90s DJ sets. Around the stalls, you will find:
The event is organized by the San Felice di Tenna Parish in collaboration with the Pizza Tramonti Association and is part of the Tramonti Estate (Tramonti Summer) program promoted by the Municipality of Tramonti together with the local Pro Loco and associations. The summer calendar, which runs from late July to early September, involves the various hamlets of the village with events such as the Wine and Traditions Festival of Gete, the Wine Nights, the historic Treasure Hunt, and concerts in Piazza Polvica: the Pizza Night is one of its most anticipated moments.
Those visiting Campania in mid-August will find a genuine alternative to the crowds of the coastal resorts here. Tramonti can be reached in just a few kilometers from Maiori and Ravello, but the atmosphere is already that of the hinterland: fresher air, vineyards still cultivated on their own roots, bell towers, and ancient convents. Eating a Tramonti pizza in the square of the Church of San Felice, on an August evening with folk music in the background, is the most direct way to connect with the gastronomic culture of this corner of the Amalfi Coast.
The new edition of the Pizza Night is scheduled for Thursday, August 13 and Friday, August 14, 2026 in Piazza San Felice, in the hamlet of Pietre di Tramonti. As per tradition, food stalls open at 8:30 PM and offer pizzas made according to ancient local recipes with high-quality local ingredients.
The new format features a roaming culinary tour winding through the centuries-old vineyard around the square: you move from one station to another tasting the various offerings, with live music accompanying the tasting. There will also be a children's area, street performers, and a cocktail bar, open both evenings.
