Eight nights of craft beer, Campanian cuisine, and live music along Via Don Minzoni
Some events in a town are worth more than a calendar: in Baronissi, a municipality in the province of Salerno overlooking the Irno Valley, that event is the Beer Festival. Every summer, when the evening brings a bit of relief from the heat, Via Don Minzoni transforms into a long village of stands, communal tables, and stages where the community gathers for days on end. It is a people's festival even before being a brewing showcase: people come to drink well, but above all, to be together.
The 2026 edition takes place from August 3rd to 10th, enlivening the area daily with evening events and social gatherings, as outlined in the municipal summer program. Eight consecutive nights in the heart of August, the month when — to use the words of Mayor Anna Petta — 'the community meets, recognizes itself, and experiences public spaces together.' Doors open in the early evening and activities continue late into the night, with free admission for everyone.
The heart of the event is craft beer, with a special focus on breweries from Campania and Southern Italy. Over the years, the festival has hosted dozens of regional producers — from Maltovivo to Karma, from Birrificio dell'Aspide to Bella Mbriana, as well as Okorei, Borrillo, Sorrento, Lievito e Nuvole, Serro Croce, and many others — building one of the most extensive showcases dedicated to the brewing sector in Southern Italy. Alongside the taps, there are tasting counters and stations designed to introduce styles and fermentation techniques even to those approaching the world of craft beer for the first time.
The gastronomic offering is vast and intentionally popular: pizza, pasta, grilled meat, sandwiches, and local specialties alternate along the street. Past editions have featured typical products like 'hanged' stringy cheese, Vesuvius olives, and zeppole, following a logic of pairing traditional Campanian cuisine with craft beers. The result is a journey where you eat while walking, switch stands, and sample a bit of everything.
Every evening, the program features live music, shows, and entertainment, often accompanied by tasting workshops, meetings, and round tables on craft beer production processes, introductory homebrewing courses, and games for the public. It is a formula that has made the festival suitable for all ages: families with children in the early hours, and groups of young people and enthusiasts in the latter part of the evening.
The Baronissi Beer Festival is not an improvised initiative: born at the end of the nineties by the Il Punto Onlus association, it surpassed its twentieth edition in the last decade, attracting tens of thousands of visitors and, in some years, taking the name Campania Beer Fest. However, in the daily language of the locals, it remains 'the Baronissi beer festival': same street, same formula, same ability to fill the town.
In 2026, the event is part of 'Viva Baronissi', the municipality's major summer program that includes over fifty events ranging from cinema and music to theater and widespread culture, all with free admission. During the festival days, the city program intertwines with other initiatives: on August 8th, the screening of the film The Emperor's New Groove; on August 10th, the 'Neighborhood Dinner under the stars'; on August 11th, the concert Come acqua di mare; and on August 12th, the show The Ballad of Pinocchio. Those arriving for the beer will therefore find a whole week of appointments.
Baronissi has about 17,000 inhabitants and is located a few kilometers north of Salerno, along the axis connecting the capital to the university area of Fisciano. This position largely explains the festival's success: it is reachable in a few minutes from the city, from the municipalities of the Irno Valley, and from the Agro Nocerino-Sarnese, and in August it also intercepts visitors heading towards the Amalfi Coast. An evening stop in Baronissi, between a tap and a plate of Campanian cuisine, is one of the most authentic ways to get to know this part of Campania.
From August 3rd to 10th, 2026, Baronissi experiences its busiest week. The Beer Festival returns to animate the area daily with evening events and social gatherings, as announced by the municipal administration during the presentation of the summer program.
The 2026 edition is part of 'Viva Baronissi', the municipality's summer program that brings together over fifty events from June to September, all with free admission. 'August is the month when the community meets, recognizes itself, and experiences public spaces together,' explained Mayor Anna Petta while presenting the festival, curated together with the Councilor for Events Giuseppe Giordano and the delegated councilor Antonio Santoro.
During the days of the event, the city calendar also offers the screening of the film The Emperor's New Groove on August 8th and the 'Neighborhood Dinner under the stars' on August 10th, the final day of the festival. On August 11th, the concert Come acqua di mare is scheduled, and on August 12th, the show The Ballad of Pinocchio.
Craft beer at the taps, Campanian cuisine and street food at the gastronomic stands, live music every evening: the formula that has made the Baronissi Beer Festival a summer reference point for the entire province of Salerno is confirmed for 2026 as well.
The festival is held along Via Don Minzoni, in Baronissi (SA), postal code 84081, in the town center.
By car: Take the Baronissi exit on the Salerno-Avellino motorway junction (A2/RA2), then follow signs for the center. On festival nights, traffic restrictions are active in the area: it is best to park in the surrounding areas and continue on foot.
By train: The reference station is Salerno, connected to Baronissi by suburban bus lines; the car journey from the station takes about 20 minutes.
By plane: Salerno-Costa d'Amalfi Airport (Pontecagnano) is about 25 km away, and Naples-Capodichino is about 60 km away.
Evenings start in the early evening and continue until late at night. Free admission: you only pay for what you consume at the stands, with local festival prices. It is advisable to arrive early on weekends when attendance is higher.
Bring cash (not all stands accept cards), light clothing, and comfortable shoes. Drivers can count on water and soft drinks available at all refreshment points.
