Two days of berries, Trentino cuisine, and music in Valda, in the Cembra Valley
The Raspberry Festival is one of the longest-running summer festivals on the Piné Plateau and Cembra Valley. It takes place in Valda, a hamlet of the Municipality of Altavalle, in the Province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige), at the Pradi square. The first edition dates back to 1975: since then, the festival has celebrated the raspberries and small berries that have always defined the economy and landscape of the valley's steep, terraced slopes.
The heart of the festival is the food stand, which is active for the duration of the event. Alongside traditional Trentino dishes - hot polenta, tonco de pontesel, and grilled meats - there are more informal options such as fried fish, chips, and sandwiches, as well as vegetarian options for every taste. Not to be missed are the desserts and local berries: raspberries, ice creams, fruit salads, and milkshakes prepared with fruit grown in the valley.
The Raspberry Festival is not just about food and wine: the evenings are accompanied by live music, DJ sets, and dancing, while Sunday afternoon is dedicated to children's entertainment with games and activities. There is also the traditional community moment with the Fire Brigade lottery draw, supporting local volunteer activities.
More than just a festival, the event is a meeting point for the entire Cembra Valley community: it attracts residents, vacationers, passing tourists, and former inhabitants who return to the village for the occasion. The event is organized by the Circolo Culturale di Valda and remains a highlight of the Trentino summer calendar, celebrating sociality, tradition, and the enhancement of the local area.
Valda is located about 20 km northeast of Trento, on the Cembra Valley plateau, at an altitude of about 795 meters. It is easily reached by car by driving up the valley along the provincial road; during the festival days, the Pradi square becomes the center of the celebration.
The fifty-first edition of the Raspberry Festival was held at the Pradi square in Valda.
