The Racconigi environmental festival exploring urban nature, forest bathing, and local culture
In Racconigi, an elegant town in the Province of Cuneo in the heart of Piedmont, the environment takes center stage with RaccoÈcologia – Environmental Festival. Organized by the Municipality of Racconigi in collaboration with numerous local entities and environmental associations, the event enlivens the spring each year with a calendar full of free or low-cost activities spread over about ten days.
The 2026 edition, the fourth, revolves around the theme «Urban Nature»: an invitation to rethink how we experience our cities, making them more sustainable, welcoming, and in balance with green spaces. In previous years, the festival has explored other major environmental themes, confirming its status as one of the most anticipated events in the Savigliano area.
The festival takes place across several iconic locations in the Racconigi area:
RaccoÈcologia combines scientific outreach with direct experience in nature: meetings with anthropologists and researchers, yoga and mindfulness workshops, Occitan music concerts, collective territory cleanup activities (the «Spazzamondo»), workshops for families and children, and night walks under the starry sky.
Since 2025, the festival has also intertwined with Fluire, a widespread event dedicated to water and rivers, and hosts the first national gathering of ABF Forest Bathing Guides in Italy, bringing the Japanese-originated practice of «forest bathing» to Racconigi.
More than just a festival, RaccoÈcologia is a cultural project that involves schools, associations, and citizens of Racconigi and the entire Cuneo area, with the goal of spreading a new ecological sensitivity. It is also an ideal opportunity for visitors who want to discover an authentic corner of Piedmont, between the charm of the Royal Castle and the quiet of the countryside.
The 2026 edition of RaccoÈcologia focused on the theme «Urban Nature», reflecting on the relationship between urban spaces and nature. The calendar alternated scientific outreach, well-being, and culture: meetings with experts, forest bathing sessions at the Royal Castle Park, gong baths and concerts at the Masca Theatron, nature walks along the Maira, and activities for families and children. The final weekend (May 23rd-24th) intertwined with the Fluire festival and hosted the first national gathering of ABF Forest Bathing Guides in Italy.
The first national gathering of ABF Forest Bathing Guides in Italy also took place on May 23rd and 24th.
Racconigi is located in the Province of Cuneo, along the Turin-Cuneo railway line (Racconigi station). By car, it can be reached via the A6 Turin-Savona motorway or the SS20 state road.
Events take place between the Royal Castle Park, the Masca Theatron, the Stork and Waterfowl Oasis, and the trails along the Maira river.
Many events are free; some activities (night walks, workshops, forest bathing) require mandatory reservation. It is recommended to consult the official program of the Municipality of Racconigi for times and registration procedures.
