The Northwest's premier event dedicated to aviculture and biodiversity in Farigliano
The International Ornithological Exhibition of the Western Alps takes place in Farigliano, a small town nestled in the hills of the Langhe in the Province of Cuneo, in the heart of Piedmont. For a few days, the exhibition transforms the town into a key hub for aviculture enthusiasts from across the Northwest, welcoming thousands of birds and numerous visitors from Italy and abroad.
The core of the event is the exhibition of pet, ornamental, exotic, and songbirds: ranging from canaries of various shapes and colors to parrots and parakeets with vibrant plumage, and exotic species from all over the world. The show is not just a showcase, but also a technical forum, featuring the evaluation of specimens by specialized judges and the awarding of prizes to top breeders.
The exhibition is organized by the Cuneo Ornithological Association in collaboration with numerous ornithological associations from Piedmont and the Aosta Valley, including those from Asti, Novara, Turin, Rivoli, Pinerolo, the Canavese area, and Valsesia. The event is supported by the Piedmont Region, the Province of Cuneo, the Municipality of Farigliano, and the Cassa di Risparmio di Cuneo Foundation.
Beyond the exhibition and competition, the event serves as a cultural opportunity to introduce the public to environmental respect, species conservation, and the human role in protecting natural heritage. It is an ideal outing for families, children, and anyone intrigued by the extraordinary variety of the avian world.
The event is held in autumn, during the month of November, at the former Milano-Stampa building, home to the Farigliano Pro Loco, on Corso Ferrero. A visit is also a perfect excuse to explore the village and the surrounding Langhe landscape, famous for its vineyards and culinary excellence.
Farigliano is located in the Langhe, in the province of Cuneo. By car, it can be reached via the A6 Turin-Savona motorway (exit at Carrù-Mondovì) and then by following signs for Farigliano. The nearest train station is in Farigliano on the Bra-Ceva line.
The exhibition is held at the former Milano-Stampa building, the Pro Loco headquarters, at Corso Ferrero 5.
