The classical music season in the Baroque Church of San Filippo Neri
Chieri Classica is the festival that transforms the Baroque Church of San Filippo Neri in Chieri, near Turin, into an exceptional concert hall from April to October. Now in its fourth edition, the season is promoted by the Musica Manens Choir and Orchestra Association in close collaboration with the Municipality of Chieri, which supports it through patronage and significant financial contributions. Artistic direction is entrusted to Maestro Andrea Damiano Cotti.
The Chieri Classica program is designed to accompany the public throughout spring, summer, and autumn, alternating between different musical styles and ensembles. It ranges from chamber music to choral concerts, from Baroque ensembles to orchestral groups, with special attention given to young local performers, showcased through dedicated events such as the "Portrait of the Pianist as a Young Man" cycle.
The highlight of the season is the City of Chieri International Competition for Young Performers, which brings emerging talents from all over the world to Chieri. The inauguration and award ceremonies involve orchestral ensembles and feature refined repertoire, helping to make the festival an event of international standing.
The Church of San Filippo Neri, located along Via Vittorio Emanuele II, was built between 1664 and 1773 based on designs by architect Antonio Bettino. Its acoustics and Baroque elegance provide an ideal setting for listening, making every concert an experience that blends music, art, and heritage. Alongside the concerts, educational activities and lecture-concerts complete the cultural offering, in collaboration with partners such as the Accademia dei Solinghi, the Circolo Cameristico Piemontese, the CFAM, and the Associazione Librarsi.
With Chieri Classica, the Piedmontese town confirms its cultural vocation, offering residents and visitors a high-quality musical season capable of enhancing the classical repertoire, young talent, and the historical-artistic heritage of the region.
