About Polentone Festival of Cassinasco

Every spring, Cassinasco—a small town in the province of Asti nestled within the Moscato Langhe—renews one of the oldest and most beloved traditions in Piedmont: the Polentone. In Piazza Caracco, traditional polenta is served alongside local wines, while the town comes alive with vintage motorcycle rallies, markets, children's games, and the joy of a community gathered around the ancient food of the farmers.

A centuries-old tradition in the Asti Langhe

The Polentone Festival of Cassinasco is one of the most deeply rooted events in Piedmont's gastronomic calendar. It takes place in the town of Cassinasco, in the province of Asti, a hilltop village immersed in the territory of Moscato d'Asti and the Asti Langhe—a land of vineyards, hazelnut groves, and a cuisine deeply rooted in peasant culture. The event celebrates the 'polentone', described by local chronicles as "the ancient and humble food of the farmers of these lands," turning it into the pretext for a grand village festival that attracts visitors from across the Acqui Terme and Monferrato areas.

Polenta as a collective ritual

The heart of the day is the distribution of polenta in Piazza Caracco, prepared in large quantities and served until supplies run out. Tradition dictates that it be accompanied by generous toppings and DOC and DOCG wines from local producers, starting with the famous Moscato d'Asti. It is a convivial moment where the entire village, along with guests, gathers around long tables in an atmosphere that keeps the spirit of rural festivals of the past alive.

More than just gastronomy

Surrounding the food stand, the day is enriched with numerous attractions: the characteristic static rally of Vespas, Ciao mopeds, and 50cc bikes, highly anticipated by vintage vehicle enthusiasts; exhibitions of classic cars and agricultural machinery; a market with various stalls; and an area dedicated to wooden games for children. A festival designed for all ages, combining memory, flavors, and fun.

Cassinasco, a window onto the Moscato territory

The festival is also an opportunity to discover Cassinasco and its surroundings: from the Madonna degli Alpini sanctuary to the hazelnut-covered hills and the historic tradition of nougat confectionery. Organized by the Pro Loco of Cassinasco, affiliated with UNPLI, the event represents a defining appointment for the community and an invitation to experience the genuine hospitality of the Asti Langhe.
