The camper rally in the Orange Flag village of Monferrato
The Plein Air – Orange Flag Camper Rally is the Trisobbio stop of the National PleinAir Festival, the major widespread rally for motorhome enthusiasts that the magazine PleinAir has been promoting for over fifteen years in collaboration with the Association of Orange Flag Villages, the tourism-environmental quality mark awarded by the Italian Touring Club to small inland villages. For one weekend, dozens of certified villages across Italy open their parking areas and welcome four-wheeled crews: Trisobbio, in the Upper Monferrato in the province of Alessandria, is one of them.
Trisobbio is a small town in Piedmont nestled between the Dolcetto di Ovada vineyards and the hills of Monferrato. Its historic center preserves a characteristic three-concentric-circle structure, one of the few remaining examples in Piedmont, dominated by a 12th-century castle now owned by the municipality, with a tower about thirty meters high made accessible to everyone thanks to a staircase and an elevator. From the top, the view sweeps over the hills, the plains of Novi Ligure and Alessandria, and, on clear days, as far as the Alps.
Hospitality is the heart of the event: the mayor opens the doors of the town hall to share the history and peculiarities of the village, while volunteers and administrators guide visitors in discovering the area. The Trisobbio weekend program, recurring from edition to edition, includes a meeting with the authorities, a visit to the De Rossi-Dogliotti Town Hall with its 1840 wine press and the infernot (traditional underground cellars), an excursion to the truffle grounds along the Stanavasso stream accompanied by an expert hunter, tastings of typical products and local wines, an evening aperitif, and a tour of the village and castle.
Trisobbio is a land of truffles and great wines: Dolcetto di Ovada, Ovada Superiore, and Barbera del Monferrato Superiore are produced here, traditionally paired with taiarin, the fresh pasta typical of the Langhe and Monferrato regions. The rally is the perfect opportunity to savor this genuine cuisine in a convivial atmosphere.
Crews are hosted in the Conca Verde parking area, at the intersection of the SP 200 and SP 198 roads, with a capacity of about twenty vehicles. Spaces are limited and booking with the Municipality of Trisobbio is essential.
On September 26 and 27, 2026, Trisobbio participates in the National PleinAir Festival, the widespread rally of camper enthusiasts in Orange Flag villages, scheduled nationally from September 25 to 27. Crews are hosted at the Conca Verde parking area (SP 200/SP 198), with limited spaces and booking required through the Municipality.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be announced by the Municipality and PleinAir magazine in the weeks leading up to the event. Confirming the structure of previous editions, the event includes a welcome by authorities, a visit to the Town Hall, an excursion to the truffle grounds, tastings of typical products and local wines, and a tour of the village and castle.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be published by the Municipality of Trisobbio and PleinAir magazine in the weeks preceding the event.
