The gastronomic tradition of Valsugana in the heart of Roncegno Terme
The Polenta Festival is one of the most anticipated gastronomic events of the summer in Roncegno Terme, an elegant spa town in the Valsugana valley, in the province of Trento, in the heart of Trentino-Alto Adige. Every year, in early August, the historic center transforms into a journey of flavors and traditions, entirely dedicated to polenta and the many recipes revolving around corn, a historic ingredient of Trentino peasant cuisine.
The absolute star is polenta, served in its most traditional versions, from classic yellow polenta to the dishes that accompany it in local tradition. Alongside savory dishes, there is no shortage of cornmeal desserts, a testament to how this cereal has shaped the culinary history of the Valsugana. The food stalls, set up along the streets and squares of the town and managed by local associations, offer a rich menu that invites you to stroll from one stand to another, savoring local specialties.
The festival is not just about gastronomy: in the center of Roncegno Terme, there is a succession of live music and entertainment moments that enliven the evenings. There are also activities designed for families and children, in a convivial and welcoming atmosphere typical of village festivals. The involvement of local volunteers, from town associations to the Alpini Group, makes the event an authentic opportunity for the entire community to come together.
Situated between thermal waters and the landscape of the Lagorai mountain range, Roncegno Terme is a popular destination for mountain and wellness tourism. The Polenta Festival, organized by the Roncegno Municipal Library in collaboration with local entities and the APT Valsugana Lagorai, represents an excellent opportunity to discover the hospitality of the Municipality of Roncegno Terme and the genuine flavors of this corner of Trentino, combining fine dining with the discovery of a territory rich in nature and traditions.
The eighteenth edition of the Polenta Festival will be held in Roncegno Terme from Friday, August 7 to Sunday, August 9, 2026. The dates are confirmed by the organizers and the tourist channels of the Valsugana. The traditional event will enliven the center of the town with food stalls dedicated to polenta and recipes based on corn, accompanied by live music and entertainment for all ages.
The detailed program, including times, gastronomic offerings, and musical appointments, is still being defined and will be published by the organizers closer to the event. For updated information, you can contact the Roncegno Municipal Library or the APT Valsugana Lagorai.
