Castle Visit and Tasting (Terre del Lagorai)

An experience among vineyards and medieval walls

The Castle Visit and Tasting is a food and wine event that, from April to October, invites visitors to discover Castel Ivano, one of the best-preserved manors in Trentino, and the wines of the Terre del Lagorai winery. The event takes place in the municipality of Castel Ivano, in Valsugana, in the heart of the Trentino-Alto Adige region, set against a landscape dominated by the Lagorai mountain range.

The route

The experience lasts about three hours and is divided into three parts. It begins with a walk through the vineyards that climb the slopes around the castle, between 400 and 700 meters above sea level, followed by a visit to the exterior of Castel Ivano, an ancient noble residence nestled in a park with centuries-old trees, flowered courtyards, and a consecrated church. The meeting point is directly at the castle.

The tasting

The final part is dedicated to the tasting of three Terre del Lagorai wines: two TrentoDoc, the famous mountain-grown traditional method sparkling wine, and one local still wine. The glasses are accompanied by boards of typical Trentino cured meats and cheeses, a pairing that tells the story of the valley's flavors. The tour is conducted in Italian and English.

The Terre del Lagorai Winery

The Terre del Lagorai winery is located within the walls of Castel Ivano, built in the 12th century. The vineyards stretch along the southern slope of the Lagorai chain, with an east-west exposure, producing TrentoDoc sparkling wines and still wines such as the Dolomite Kerner. The visit is an authentic way to learn about the bond between wine, mountains, and the history of this corner of Valsugana.

An experience by reservation

The activity is aimed at a small group: a minimum of two people is required, and reservations are mandatory by 4:00 PM the day before. It is also possible to arrange visits on other days, always by reservation. An ideal opportunity to combine culture, nature, and gastronomy in a single Trentino evening.
