The half marathon that runs between San Rossore Park and the Leaning Tower
The Pisa Half Marathon is the premier half marathon of Pisa, Tuscany, a running event that transforms the provincial capital into a grand celebration of sport every October. Covering the classic 21.097 km distance—certified and approved by FIDAL for record validity—the race is considered one of the fastest in Italy. Its flat, smooth course is ideal for both those chasing a personal best and those tackling their first half marathon.
What makes this event truly special is its course. The race winds through the San Rossore Regional Park, the city's true green lung, before entering the historic center to pass iconic landmarks such as the Cittadella, the Church of Santa Maria della Spina, the Lungarni riverbanks, the Ponte di Mezzo, and Piazza dei Cavalieri. The finish line is in the heart of Piazza dei Miracoli, a UNESCO World Heritage site, right in the shadow of the world-famous Leaning Tower: a finale that is worth the registration alone.
The event features two distances. In addition to the half marathon, those who prefer a shorter challenge can choose the Pisa Ten, a 10 km race available in both competitive and non-competitive versions, truly open to everyone. This format allows families, amateur runners, and seasoned athletes to share the same day along the streets and avenues of Pisa.
The Pisa Half Marathon has a strong international vocation, welcoming hundreds of athletes from abroad every year, all drawn by the fast course and the city's charm. The event is organized by the ASD Leaning Tower Runners association and has a charitable heart: proceeds support Per Donare la Vita ONLUS, an organization dedicated to raising awareness about organ donation and supporting patients. It is a way to combine a passion for running with a concrete cause, in the spirit of the Pisan community.
The 2026 edition, the twentieth in the event's history, will take place on Sunday, October 11, 2026, with the start at 9:00 AM from Via Contessa Matilde, near San Rossore Park. The course, covering 21.097 km certified and approved by FIDAL, crosses the San Rossore Regional Park and the historic center of Pisa before ending in Piazza dei Miracoli. Alongside the half marathon, the Pisa Ten will be held, a 10 km race in competitive and non-competitive formats. Registrations are open on the Endu.net platform.
Along the route: 4 timing stations, refreshment points every 5 km (starting from km 5), and sponge stations every 5 km (starting from km 7.5). Maximum time 3 hours, with time gates at km 5, 10, 15, and 20.
Pisa is easily accessible by train (Pisa Centrale station, connected to Florence and all of Tuscany) and by car via the A11 and A12 motorways. The city is also served by the Galileo Galilei International Airport, located just a few minutes from the center.
The race starts at 9:00 AM from Via Contessa Matilde, near San Rossore Park; participants will start in waves. The maximum time to complete the half marathon is 3 hours, with time gates at the 5, 10, 15, and 20 km marks.
Registrations are handled online via the Endu.net platform, with payment accepted by credit card or bank transfer. Basic and Pro packages are available for both races.
