Agri-picnic on the lawn of the 17th-century residence of the Counts Rasponi in Russi
About two kilometers from the center of Russi, in the province of Ravenna, stands Palazzo San Giacomo, the largest noble summer residence in Romagna, built starting from the second half of the 17th century by the Counts Rasponi on the ruins of an ancient castle. It is in this baroque setting, immersed in the countryside along the banks of the Lamone river, that Picnic at Palazzo San Giacomo comes to life: a summer event that invites you to experience the palace's large lawn as an open-air living room, amidst good food, music, and conviviality.
The idea is simple and genuine: spread out a blanket on the grass, assemble your picnic box with zero-km delicacies brought by the farms of Campagna Amica, and dine under the stars, while the evening unfolds with live concerts, workshops, and games.
The heart of the event is the market of producers from Campagna Amica-Coldiretti, featuring farms from the Ravenna areaโfrom Russi to Faenza, from Brisighella to Solarolo and Camerlona. Among the stalls, you'll find cured meats and fresh pasta, piadine and focaccias, cheeses, honey, artisanal ice cream, wines, and farm beers: all from short supply chains, to be freely assembled in your basket.
Each evening features live concerts, sunset DJ sets, creative workshops for children (drawing, eco-printing, clay, nature stencils), and traditional street games for all ages, as well as temporary exhibitions set up in the palace's rooms. A program designed for families, with free entertainment and relaxed rhythms, focused on rediscovering Romagna's peasant traditions.
The evening is also an opportunity to discover a valuable asset: acquired by the Municipality of Russi in 1977 and restored by 2022, Palazzo San Giacomo houses one of the most extensive pictorial cycles of private noble decoration in Romagna from the 17th and 18th centuries. Promoted by the Municipality of Russi together with Campagna Amica-Coldiretti Ravenna, the event has free admission, with free parking adjacent to the palace.
For summer 2026, the Municipality of Russi and Campagna Amica-Coldiretti Ravenna renew the appointment with agri-picnics on the lawn of Palazzo San Giacomo: three Thursday evenings, from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM, dedicated to zero-km peasant food, music, and games of the past.
The Campagna Amica farms from Russi, Brisighella, Faenza, Camerlona, and Solarolo offer cured meats, piadine, pasta, focaccias, ice cream, honey, wines, and farm beers to compose your picnic box. In the palace rooms, you can visit the exhibition Fashion Visions. Figures and sketches by Giancarlo Utili (until September 21).
All evenings: from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM, with agri-aperitifs, Campagna Amica producers' market, and free entertainment for families.
Palazzo San Giacomo, Via Carrarone Rasponi, Russi (RA), about 2 km from the center. Free access and parking from Via Fiumazzo.
The evenings take place from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
By car from Ravenna or Faenza, take the Russi exit; ample free parking is available nearby. Russi train station (Castel BologneseโRavenna line) is about 2 km from the palace.
We recommend bringing a blanket or towel to sit on the lawn (pallets are also provided). Some workshops for children require booking (WhatsApp 347 8638450). Free admission; the picnic box with peasant products is at a cost.
