The Frog Festival is much more than a simple village festival: it is a journey into the history and popular cuisine of Conselice, a small municipality in the Province of Ravenna known for generations as "E paes di ranòcc", the land of frogs. The nickname has its roots in the past of these lands of valleys and wetlands, where catching and cooking frogs was part of daily life and the cuisine of the azdore, the historic Romagnolo home cooks.
Founded in 1973, every third weekend of September the festival transforms Piazza Felice Foresti, in the heart of the historic center, into a large open-air meeting point. It is one of the events that close the summer season in Emilia-Romagna, and it attracts thousands of visitors each year from the municipalities of the Unione della Bassa Romagna and from all over the region.
Frogs, the stars of the table
The signature dish is naturally frogs, prepared according to traditional recipes: fried frogs, stewed frogs (in sauce), and frog risotto. For those who prefer an alternative menu, the gastronomic stand also offers garganelli with ragù, grilled sausage, polenta, Romagnolo platters, roasts, French fries, and dishes designed for children and those who don't like frogs. Over a hundred volunteers from Conselice and neighboring towns prepare and serve at the tables.
Not just gastronomy
Alongside the gastronomic stand, the festival offers a rich calendar of events: music evenings and live concerts, comedy and entertainment shows, the traditional vintage car rally, children's entertainment, fashion shows, and markets for crafts, collectibles, and upcycling. It is a festival designed for all ages, combining food and public square in a true Romagnolo spirit.
An event not to be missed
Organized by the Pro Loco Conselice with the patronage of the Municipal Administration, the Frog Festival is now a symbol of the territory's identity. Visiting it means discovering an authentic piece of Romagna, far from the most beaten tourist routes, where the simple cuisine of the past becomes a reason for celebration and pride for the entire community.
Frog Festival — edition 2026
The 53rd Frog Festival returns to Conselice on the usual third weekend of September, with opening confirmed for Friday, September 18, 2026 in the regional registry of Emilia-Romagna festivals. The event takes place as tradition dictates in Piazza Felice Foresti and lasts approximately five days, until Tuesday, September 22.
For 2026, the heart of the festival will again be the gastronomic stand open every evening from 7:00 PM, featuring fried frogs, stewed frogs, and alternative dishes from Romagnolo cuisine. The detailed program of evenings (concerts, shows, vintage car rally, entertainment, and markets) will be announced by Pro Loco Conselice in the weeks preceding the event.

The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be published by Pro Loco Conselice in the weeks preceding the festival, approximately from late August / early September 2026.
Based on previous editions, the usual structure includes:
- Gastronomic stand open every evening from 7:00 PM (also for lunch on Sundays), with fried frogs, stewed frogs, and frog risotto, as well as garganelli with ragù, grilled sausage, polenta, and Romagnolo platters;
- Music evenings and live concerts in Piazza Felice Foresti;
- Comedy and entertainment shows;
- Vintage car rally on Sunday morning;
- Children's entertainment and parades;
- Craft, collectibles, and upcycling market.
The names of the artists and the precise times for each day will be communicated with the official poster.

How to get there
Conselice can be reached by car via Via Bastia (SP8) and the road network of the Bassa Romagna; the nearest train station is Lavezzola, on the Ferrara-Ravenna line. During the festival, the historic center is largely pedestrianized.
