Antiques, vintage finds, and curiosities every Sunday in the heart of Syracuse
In the heart of the city, every Sunday morning Piazza Santa Lucia transforms into a large open-air market dedicated to antiques, vintage goods, and second-hand treasures. The Syracuse Flea Market is one of the most beloved events for locals and visitors alike: a path of colorful stalls where you can breathe in the charm of yesteryear and where every object tells a little story.
The exhibitors, numbering around fifty each Sunday, offer a surprising variety of items for all tastes and budgets:
It is a paradise for collectors and vintage enthusiasts, but also a place where reuse and the circular economy find a natural home, giving new life to forgotten objects.
The market takes place every Sunday morning, all year round, generally from 7:00 AM to 12:30 PM. The setting is Piazza Santa Lucia, a spacious square facing the sanctuary of the same name, located a short distance from the historic center of Ortigia and easily reachable on foot.
The event is organized and regulated by the Municipality of Syracuse, the capital of the province of the same name in Sicily, which oversees its weekly operation. As it is an open-air market, dates may be subject to change in case of bad weather, holidays, or other city events: it is always advisable to check before heading out.
More than just a market, the Piazza Santa Lucia Flea Market is a Sunday ritual that is part of the social fabric of Syracuse. Strolling through the stalls early in the morning, haggling over a price, discovering a rare record or an old book: it is an authentic way to experience the city away from the most beaten tourist paths.
For 2026, the Syracuse Flea Market confirms its presence every Sunday morning in Piazza Santa Lucia, from 7:00 AM to 12:30 PM. About fifty exhibitors offer antiques and vintage items, old and used goods, comics, books, prints, vinyl records, costume jewelry, and handmade creations. Admission is free and the initiative is managed by the Municipality of Syracuse. Dates may vary due to bad weather or other city events.
Piazza Santa Lucia is located in the Borgata area, just a few minutes from the historic center of Syracuse. By car, it is easily reached via the SS114; those arriving by train can use the Syracuse station, which is a short distance away. The island of Ortigia is just a short walk away.
Every Sunday morning, generally from 7:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Admission to the market is free.
It is best to arrive early for the best finds. Bring cash, as many exhibitors do not accept electronic payments. In case of bad weather, check if the market is taking place by contacting the Public Relations Office of the Municipality.
