The oldest and largest fair in Umbria, from the historic center to Pian di Massiano
The Fiera dei Morti in Perugia is one of the oldest commercial events in Italy: its origins date back to the 13th century, around 1260, and it is linked to the All Souls' Day commemoration in early November. Considered the most important fair in Umbria and one of the most interesting in Central Italy, it attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors to the Umbrian capital every year.
The fair is spread across two main areas. In Pian di Massiano, at the foot of the city, over five hundred commercial operators (more than 518 stalls in recent editions) offer artistic and local crafts, gift items, international goods, clothing, plants and flowers, typical products from Italian regions, and curiosities of all kinds. In the historic center, dozens of wooden houses animate Corso Vannucci, Via Mazzini, Piazza Italia, Piazza della Repubblica, and Piazza Matteotti, each with a different focus: chocolate, food and wine products, wellness, and gardening, specialties from twin cities.
In addition to shopping, the Fiera dei Morti is an occasion for a popular celebration that fills Perugia with scents, flavors, and colors. The presence of operators from twin cities โ from Aix-en-Provence to Tรผbingen, from Potsdam to Bratislava โ brings crafts and gastronomic specialties from all over Europe to the city. Admission is free, and the event, organized by the Municipality of Perugia, confirms its role as an identity-defining appointment for the entire region year after year.
The 2026 edition of the Fiera dei Morti takes place from November 1st to 5th between Pian di Massiano and the historic center of Perugia. In Pian di Massiano, over five hundred operators (518 stalls) offer crafts, clothing, gift items, plants, and typical products. In the center, 55 wooden houses animate the squares with thematic focuses: chocolate in Via Mazzini, international space and twin cities in Piazza Italia, wellness and gardening area in Piazza della Repubblica, taste island with about twenty food and wine stalls in Piazza Matteotti.
The main area of Pian di Massiano is served by the Minimetrรฒ (terminus) and ample parking; it is the ideal interchange point to reach the historic center. By train: Perugia Fontivegge station.
The fair generally runs from 10 AM to 8 PM. Free admission.
