About Fiera dei Morti

A tradition rooted in the Middle Ages: the Fiera dei Morti is the most important and anticipated commercial event in Umbria, held every early November in Perugia. Over five hundred stalls in Pian di Massiano and dozens of wooden houses in the historic center offer artistic crafts, gift items, clothing, plants and flowers, typical products from all regions of Italy, and curiosities of all kinds. A centuries-old fair, with free admission, that combines commerce, gastronomy, and village festival.

A Centuries-Old Fair in the Heart of Umbria

The Fiera dei Morti in Perugia is one of the oldest commercial events in Italy: its origins date back to the 13th century, around 1260, and it is linked to the All Souls' Day commemoration in early November. Considered the most important fair in Umbria and one of the most interesting in Central Italy, it attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors to the Umbrian capital every year.

From Pian di Massiano to the Historic Center

The fair is spread across two main areas. In Pian di Massiano, at the foot of the city, over five hundred commercial operators (more than 518 stalls in recent editions) offer artistic and local crafts, gift items, international goods, clothing, plants and flowers, typical products from Italian regions, and curiosities of all kinds. In the historic center, dozens of wooden houses animate Corso Vannucci, Via Mazzini, Piazza Italia, Piazza della Repubblica, and Piazza Matteotti, each with a different focus: chocolate, food and wine products, wellness, and gardening, specialties from twin cities.

Commerce, Taste, and Tradition

In addition to shopping, the Fiera dei Morti is an occasion for a popular celebration that fills Perugia with scents, flavors, and colors. The presence of operators from twin cities โ€” from Aix-en-Provence to Tรผbingen, from Potsdam to Bratislava โ€” brings crafts and gastronomic specialties from all over Europe to the city. Admission is free, and the event, organized by the Municipality of Perugia, confirms its role as an identity-defining appointment for the entire region year after year.
