About Augusta Summer Festival

Augusta Summer Festival is the summer event calendar for the Municipality of Augusta, in the province of Syracuse: a widespread festival that brings over 100 appointments to all the city's squares from mid-June to mid-September. Concerts by national artists, cabaret, opera, jazz, folk, food festivals, open-air cinema, fashion shows, sports tournaments, and religious celebrations enliven Augusta Isola, the seaside village of Brucoli, the Borgata, and the hamlets of Agnone Bagni and Monte. A program that is almost entirely free, designed for both residents and tourists.

Augusta Summer Festival, the city's widespread celebration

Augusta Summer Festival is the major summer event series promoted by the Municipality of Augusta, an important hub on the Ionian coast in the province of Syracuse, in south-eastern Sicily. Created to give a unified identity to the many events of the summer season, the festival has established itself as the highlight of the Augusta summer: a calendar featuring over 100 events spread over approximately 80 days, from mid-June to mid-September.

All the city's squares

The strength of the festival lies in its presence throughout the municipal territory. The musical heart beats in Piazza Castello, at the public gardens of Augusta Isola, where major concerts are held. The seaside village of Brucoli hosts cabaret and entertainment evenings in Piazza Castello Aragonese, while the hamlets of Agnone Bagni, Monte, and the Borgata are involved with their own events. This is a deliberate choice by the municipal administration: not a single stage, but an entire city that comes alive every evening.

A program for every taste

The calendar is intentionally diverse, weaving together different genres and styles:

  • Concerts by nationally renowned artists and local performers
  • Cabaret and comedy shows, often hosted in Brucoli
  • Opera, jazz, folk, and recitals
  • Food festivals dedicated to local flavors: pani cunzatu, cudduruni, fish, pizza
  • Open-air cinema, fashion shows, and exhibitions
  • Sports tournaments and religious events linked to local traditions

Most of the events are free to attend, the result of collaboration between the Municipality, local associations, parishes, gyms, and schools. Over the years, well-known names in Italian music and entertainment have taken the stage in Piazza Castello, confirming the festival's growth.

Augusta, between history and the sea

Founded in the Swabian era by Frederick II, Augusta rises on an island connected to the mainland and preserves a fascinating fortified heritage, from the Swabian Castle to the bastioned walls. Experiencing Augusta Summer Festival means discovering this seaside city in the province of Syracuse during its most vibrant season, amidst crowded squares, street food, and music until late at night.

The dates and the detailed program for the 2026 edition have not yet been officially announced: they will be communicated progressively through the Municipality of Augusta's channels during the spring and summer.

The Municipality of Augusta has confirmed the return of the Augusta Summer Festival for the summer of 2026.
