The antiques, crafts, and collectibles fair in the heart of Ortigia
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Ortigia Antiquaria is the fair dedicated to antiques, craftsmanship, and collectibles held at the Antico Mercato of Ortigia, in the heart of the historic center of Syracuse. For those who love the charm of items from the past, the event is a precious opportunity to wander among period furniture, prints, antique books, ceramics, coins, and all kinds of collectibles, carefully selected by exhibitors and displayed under the vaults of one of the city's most evocative buildings.
What makes Ortigia Antiquaria a benchmark event is the quality and variety of its offerings: exhibitors arrive from all six provinces of eastern and western Sicily—Palermo, Trapani, Catania, Messina, Ragusa, and Syracuse itself—bringing with them diverse traditions, tastes, and workshops. Alongside the stands of antique furniture and objects, there are cultural initiatives and food and wine offerings, making the event much more than just a fair: it is a meeting point for collectors, numismatics enthusiasts, and the curious.
The location is no mere detail. The Antico Mercato of Ortigia, built at the turn of the 20th century and located just a few steps from the Temple of Apollo, served as the main city market of Syracuse for nearly a century. Restored and returned to the city, it now hosts cultural events, exhibitions, and markets: its early 20th-century architecture provides the antique fair with a setting that enhances the pleasure of searching and discovery.
The event takes place in Syracuse, in the province of Syracuse (Sicily), at the Antico Mercato, along Via Emanuele De Benedictis at the corner of Via Trento, on the island of Ortigia. The event, organized by Grandi Eventi s.r.l., is held annually and traditionally takes place in the autumn months. Admission is free, making it perfect for a weekend stroll among the stalls.
The 2026 edition of Ortigia Antiquaria will return to animate the Antico Mercato of Ortigia, in Syracuse, with its usual fair dedicated to antiques, craftsmanship, and collectibles. At the moment, the official dates and the list of exhibitors for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced: available information provisionally points to the month of October, but confirmation is still awaited from the organization (Grandi Eventi s.r.l.).
As in previous editions, period furniture, prints, antique books, coins, and collectibles are expected, offered by exhibitors from the six Sicilian provinces, accompanied by cultural initiatives and gastronomic offerings. We will update this page with dates and the program as soon as they are made public.
The Antico Mercato is located on the island of Ortigia, along Via Emanuele De Benedictis at the corner of Via Trento, just a few steps from the Temple of Apollo. By car, you can reach Syracuse via the A18/RA15 motorway; the historic center of Ortigia is largely a restricted traffic zone, so it is advisable to use the parking lots near the Umbertino Bridge and continue on foot. The Syracuse train station is about 1.5 km from the market.
Admission to the event is free.
Take the opportunity to also visit the nearby Temple of Apollo, the Cathedral (Duomo), and the Maniace Castle: the island of Ortigia is entirely walkable.
