Ethnic music, traditions, and flavors in the heart of Lentini
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Lentini Etno Fest is an event dedicated to ethnic music and folk traditions held in the historic center of Lentini, a town in the province of Syracuse, in southeastern Sicily. Launched in 2024, the festival has quickly secured a prominent place in the local autumn event calendar, transforming the town's two main squares, Piazza Duomo and Piazza Umberto I, into a grand open-air stage.
The heart of the festival is ethnic music: musical groups and ensembles recount the history of the Leontinoi territory through songs and tales, reviving ancient sounds and traditional Sicilian instruments such as the tambourine, the chitarra battente, and the friscalettu. Alongside the concerts, the event offers a rich, full-day program designed to engage families, curious visitors, and fans of folk culture.
Lentini Etno Fest is about more than just music. The day begins in the morning with the Slow Food Earth Market, a precious opportunity to discover and purchase products from small local producers, and the impromptu painting competition, where artists paint the most evocative corners of the historic center live. In the afternoon and evening, the squares fill with craft stalls, street performers, and food stands dedicated to local flavors, while a historical pageant parades through the town, evoking the community's cultural roots.
As the heir to ancient Leontinoi, one of the first Greek colonies in Sicily, Lentini holds a historical and archaeological heritage of great value. The Lentini Etno Fest fits into this context as a moment to celebrate local folk traditions rooted in the grand Sicilian history, combining the promotion of local excellence—including food—with the joy of a town square festival. For those visiting the province of Syracuse in autumn, it is an authentic opportunity to experience the truest side of Sicily, made of music, flavors, and hospitality.
The Lentini Etno Fest is expected to return in October 2026, once again between Piazza Duomo and Piazza Umberto I in Lentini, in the province of Syracuse. The precise dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced, and the detailed program has not been published.
Based on previous editions, the event is expected to feature its proven formula: ethnic music concerts, the Slow Food Earth Market, an impromptu painting competition, a historical pageant, street performers, and craft and food stalls. To stay updated on dates and the final program, we recommend following the official channels of the Municipality of Lentini.
Lentini is located in the province of Syracuse, along the route between Catania and Syracuse. By car, it can be reached via the A18/RA15 motorway (Lentini exit) or the SS194. By train, the Lentini station is served by the Messina–Syracuse line. The nearest airport is Catania-Fontanarossa, approximately 40 km away.
Activities are concentrated in Piazza Duomo and Piazza Umberto I, in the historic center of Lentini, which are easily reachable on foot from one another.
Access to the squares and performances is free of charge. Tastings at the food stands are subject to payment according to the individual exhibitors' price lists.
We recommend arriving in the morning to experience the Slow Food Earth Market and the painting competition, and staying into the evening for the concerts. Wear comfortable clothing and suitable shoes for moving between the two squares.
